As TNA Wrestling gears up for its biggest show of the year—Slammiversary 2025—new company President Carlos Silva is embracing his leadership role with transparency and humility. In a recent appearance on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, Silva candidly revealed that he wasn’t a lifelong pro wrestling fan prior to taking over the reins at the start of the year.
“No, I’m really not,” Silva admitted when asked if he had always followed the industry. “I think I was more of a casual fan during the big heydays—whether it was during the Goldberg era or others—you get sucked in. But I wasn’t someone who followed week to week or day to day.”
While Silva’s background is rooted in the broader world of sports and entertainment, he made it clear that he’s committed to learning fast—and he’s leaning heavily on a trusted creative team of wrestling veterans to guide TNA forward.
“Probably my creative team, mostly,” Silva said when asked who he turns to for wrestling insight. “Tommy Dreamer, Hunter [Delirious], and Eric Tompkins really. Tommy gives us that inside-the-ropes perspective, Hunter has reinvigorated our writing, and Eric’s history with the brand is invaluable.”
He also credited longtime PR head Ross Forman as a vital source of knowledge and historical context for the TNA brand.
Despite not coming from a traditional wrestling background, Silva shared a pivotal moment earlier this year when he truly grasped the emotional power and loyalty of the TNA fanbase.
“We were in Dallas in February or March, and it was like 35–40 degrees—really cold—and about an hour and a half before doors opened, there were 4,000 fans waiting outside,” he recalled. “It blew me away. That level of passion… it really warmed my heart. It was a moment that reminded me why this matters.”
Silva officially took on the role of TNA President in January 2024, and this weekend’s Slammiversary at the UBS Arena in Long Island, NY marks a major milestone—not just as the company’s biggest event of the year, but also its first large-scale arena show in several years.
All eyes will be on how the promotion delivers under Silva’s leadership, with fans and critics alike eager to see how the new era of TNA unfolds.
