TNA’s Carlos Silva Teases More Co-Promoted Storylines With WWE

TNA Wrestling President Carlos Silva discussed various topics with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, including the possibility of co-promoted shows with WWE.

Silva said, โ€œThereโ€™s always a little bit of promotional ego that goes into all of these things. But I think at the end of the day, itโ€™s how do you check that on the sidelines and how do you create great storylines and great matches that the fans wanna see? WWE and NXT have been really great in working with us on that and I think weโ€™ve been good partners in figuring stuff out kind of easily. So far weโ€™re all on social together, right, Sean? Iโ€™m seeing the same thing youโ€™re seeing and Iโ€™m seeing a lot of positives. People are wondering and itโ€™s okay to be on both sides of where this goes. That means that weโ€™re creating some good drama and thatโ€™s what itโ€™s all about. But the partnership has been going really well and I think certainly since WrestleMania, I think has really accelerated around creating more and more intricate and fun storylines for the fans in these last 60 or 90 days.โ€

On doing weekend takeovers with Invicta FC:

โ€œI think it could be any of them, Sean. Weโ€™re big fans. I think for the fans and certainly for us on the business side, what TKO did in Kansas City with UFC and with WWE and with PBR, I thought was just a super cool weekend. So weโ€™ve been looking at how we do some stuff together with Invicta and how we do a weekend where we have both TNA Wrestling and Invicta. We were looking at possibly doing that in Rhode Island, candidly, but I think it was just a little too soon. But weโ€™re looking at a whole bunch of things around operations and logistics and how to move cages and how to move rings so that we can make it work. Shannon and I were actually together yesterday talking just about that. So I do think as we get through the summer and into the fall, weโ€™ll look at that.โ€

On Invicta FC:

โ€œComing out of Evolution, I thought that was an awesome night on the all womenโ€™s side. Invicta being, for those people that donโ€™t know, being an all womenโ€™s MMA league, been around for 12 years. Shannon Knappโ€™s a Hall of Famer and helps us run the promotion and does all the matchmaking. I think there could be a lot of interesting ways to put it together and see. Weโ€™ve also had a little bit of crossover with some of the wrestlers and as well as some of the fighters coming to each of the shows. Youโ€™ll see a little bit of that. Shannonโ€™s actually gonna be with us at Slammiversary and weโ€™re actually shooting a bunch of content in and around the city in some of the MMA gyms as well. So weโ€™re already looking at how the two things get smashed together. I think it could be really cool.โ€
