WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who portrayed Maui in both the animated and live-action versions of Moana, will be honored with a Disney Legends Award at D23 this weekend. Additionally, Disney+ has announced that the D23 events will be livestreamed on both Hulu and Disney+.
This is what the announcement reads: “The countdown to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is almost over, and as the digital home for Disney fandom, Disney+ and Hulu are bringing the excitement of the event to fans everywhere. From panels and showcase presentations streaming exclusively on Disney+ to new Disney+ Perks offers and experiences, fans can join the excitement whether they are in Anaheim or tuning in from home.”

The live-action Moana has failed financially for Disney, earning only $121.4 million domestically and $280.4 million worldwide as of Sunday. In contrast, the animated films have together generated a total of $1.746 billion worldwide.
