AEW star and pro wrestling veteran Mercedes Moné spoke with the Daily Star about various topics, including her continuous growth as a performer.
Moné said, “There’s just so many different eras of being in wrestling, and learning and growing. I feel like I’m never going to stop learning and growing. I feel like that’s the main thing is not being content. And not being like, ‘I know everything.’ I don’t know everything, and I still want to learn. And we have so many people that I get to learn from. So it’s still for me is just wanting to learn and wanting to grow and wanting to be better. And not being like, ‘Okay, I’m the best women’s wrestler, wow what?’ No, I’m the best women’s wrestler and I still have to prove that every single day because these women are coming after me and coming into this business every single day that I have to be like, ‘I’ve got to not only keep up, I’ve got to stay here.’ They’re growing, they’re being amazing. They’re becoming the blueprint.”
On the possibility of another match with Bayley in the future:
“You never know in wrestling. That’s always a dream match for me, is to have another match with her. She is one of my greatest opponents of all time. Of course, everybody knows one of our greatest matches together, [NXT] Brooklyn, that’s really changed the way people viewed women’s wrestling. But, yeah, it’s always a dream match for me. It’s always a dream match for me, so you never know.”
