AJ Styles Admits He Was “Wrong” About John Cena’s In-Ring Ability

WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles appeared on an episode of WWE Retrospective, where he discussed his in-ring chemistry with 17-time World Champion John Cena.

Styles said, “We never had a bad match, I know that. We never had a bad match. There was something about the timing that we had with everything about it. It’s not often that you get in the ring and two guys have the same timing for everything, but he was so there on everything I did. It was amazing.”

On Cena’s in-ring work:

“Listen, I made a mistake at some point in my career when I said that I would listen to Cena when it came to promos, but he could listen to me when we got in the ring. I was wrong. I’ve never seen anybody so understanding what the crowd wants when they want it. He listens to the crowd and understands it more, better than anybody I’ve ever been in the ring with. I learned something that day. Just because Cena may not be able to do, I don’t think not one flip, doesn’t mean that he’s not one of the best to do it in the ring.”
