According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW Redemption 2026 is projected to have a final pay-per-view buy rate of between 100,000 and 110,000. This estimate indicates that Redemption will be AEW’s lowest-buying pay-per-view of 2026 by a significant margin.
One of the factors contributing to these low figures is the timing of the event: Redemption took place before AEW All In, prompting comparisons between the main events of both shows. Meltzer pointed out that Kevin Knight was not viewed as an established star capable of winning the AEW World Championship, though there was an argument within AEW that headlining the pay-per-view could help elevate Knight’s status.
The newsletter also discussed why the originally planned main event featuring Kenny Omega versus MJF was moved from Redemption to television. MJF was dealing with a knee injury, and relocating the match allowed him additional time to recover before All In, which he would not miss. Additionally, the change enabled AEW to put the World Championship on Omega several weeks earlier, giving the company more time to promote his match with Will Ospreay.
All In was centered around Omega defending the AEW World Championship against Ospreay, while Redemption was headlined by Omega facing Knight, who entered the match as the TNT Champion. Knight later defended his title against Darby Allin but ultimately lost.
