AEW Battle Of The Belts 6 Review – April 7, 2023

International Title Match
Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Dralistico

Dralistico delivers a chop then he follows it up with a step up hurricanrana that sends Orange Cassidy to the outside. Best Friends and LFI get in each other’s faces as Cassidy delivers his signature chops. He follows it up with another one with a little more power behind it, then climbs to the top rope and puts one hand in his pocket. He hops down and puts his other hand in his other pocket then follows it up with an arm drag and a dropkick.

Dralístico rolls to the outside for a breather and LFI & Best Friends begin brawling with one another. LFI overpowers Best Friends and holds them in place to allow Dralístico to go flying and level them. Best Friends brawl with LFI up the ramp and to the back as Jose The Assistant continues to watch the in ring action from ringside that sends us to a break.

After the break Cassidy ascends to the top and goes flying. He then delivers a Michinoku Driver and a DDT, but Dralístico hits a Codebreaker and a rising kick. They then teeter on the top rope and exchange forearm strikes before Dralístico delivers a headbutt and a hurricanrana. He follows it up with a Tijeras and locks in an arm and shoulder submission.

Cassidy gets his foot on the bottom rope to break the hold, and Dralístico catches him with a Canadian Destroyer. He follows it up with a Corkscrew Kick and Cassidy rolls to the outside. He delivers an Orange Punch to Cassidy, then hits Dralístico with one of his own for the win.

Winner & Still International Champion: Orange Cassidy (10:47) (STILL CHAMPION!!!)

After the match Cassidy grabs his previously injured hand. The lights then dim, and a message from House Of Black to Cassidy begins to play. Malakai Black says he’s always considered Cassidy to be talented and says he knows losing to the House has been eating him alive. Buddy Matthews then says that they were gracious enough to put their Trios Titles on the line and says it’s about time that he does the same.

We then head to a video recapping the events of Dynamite this past Wednesday.

Back from the break we go backstage to Lexy Nair is with Mark Briscoe. Nair asks Briscoe how he’s holding up after his match with Samoa Joe at Supercard Of Honor and Briscoe says he’s not going anywhere. He says Lucha Bros will get the job done before Jay Lethal walks in. He asks Briscoe how long he’s known him and says everyone loves him. He asks why they aren’t working together since they’ve known each other for 20 years and Briscoe says he’s not sure. He shakes Lethal’s hand before Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh walk in and laugh.

TBS Title Match
Jade Cargill (c) vs. Billie Starkz

Billie Starkz slaps Jade Cargill. Cargill responds with a chop and a backbreaker, then follows it up with a fallaway slam. Starkz looks to roll up Cargill but Cargill prevents her from doing so and tosses her out of the ring as we go to a break.

After the break Cargill sends Starkz crashing into the mat. Cargill sets up for Jaded, but Starkz escapes with a hurricanrana and follows it up with a boot that sends Cargill to the outside. She delivers a dropkick to the back of her head but Cargill fires back with a back elbow and tosses Starkz back into the ring.

Starkz delivers a kick but Cargill whips her into the corner. She charges at her, but Starkz ducks out of the way and Cargill collides with the ring post. Starkz delivers a flatliner and ascends to the top, then looks for a Senton Bomb. Cargill gets her knees up and sets up for Jaded, but Starkz escapes. Cargill then delivers a pump kick and Jaded for the win.

Winner & Still TBS Champion: Jade Cargill (8:34) (STILL CHAMPION!!!!)

After the match as Cargill celebrates hitting 55-0, Taya Valkyrie’s music hits and she heads down. Cargill meets Valkyrie and Valkyrie attacks her. She gets her in the ring and sets up for Road To Valhalla but Cargill escapes and retreats alongside Grey and Sterling.

We go backstage to Alex Abrahantes. He barges into The Elite’s locker room and asks Brandon Cutler for an update on The Elite. Cutler says he & Michael Nakazawa are the only men in the dressing room. He calls Blackpool Combat Club bullies and asks what you do when the people who stand up to bullies are gone. He says you stand up to them yourself. Nakazawa chimes in and says no more.

ROH World Tag Team Titles Match
Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr & Rey Fenix) (c) vs. TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs & QT Marshall

Pentagon Jr does his signature Zero Miedo gesture then QT Marshall shoves Pentagon. He mocks him before Pentagon delivers a kick and Hobbs tags in. Pentagon & Powerhouse Hobbs go back & forth with forearms, but Pentagon lands a pair of kicks and tags in Rey Fenix. Fenix delivers a dropkick off the top rope that sends him to the outside and goes flying to level Marshall.

Hobbs takes down Pentagon & Fenix looks to go flying, but Hobbs catches him and delivers a body slam. Marshall tags in and delivers a right hand to Fenix’s midsection but Fenix delivers a thrust kick and tags in Pentagon. Pentagon delivers several overhand chops to both Marshall & Hobbs but they catch him with a double shoulder tackle that takes us to a break.

After the break Pentagon delivers an enziguri. He looks to tag in Fenix but Marshall pulls Fenix off the apron. Hobbs whips Pentagon into the corner and delivers a splash before Marshall tags in and delivers a powerbomb. Pentagon fires back with a sling blade and tags in Fenix. Fenix hits an overhand chop and a spinning kick before Lucha Bros double team on Marshall. Pentagon tags in and delivers a crossbody off the top then hits a DDT.

Fenix follows it up with a splash and Pentagon goes for a pin, but Hobbs breaks the fall. Pentagon delivers a thrust kick but Marshall catches him with an enziguri. Fenix levels Marshall with a superkick and Hobbs runs over him. Marshall hits Pentagon with a Diamond Cutter before Fenix levels him. Hobbs tags in and delivers a forearm. Pentagon responds with a chop, and they go back & forth. Pentagon sends Hobbs into the top rope and delivers an enziguri to the back of his head, then tags in Fenix.

Fenix delivers a splash off his brother’s shoulders and Marshall looks to help out Hobbs but Pentagon takes him out. Fenix goes for a pin, but Hobbs kicks out. Lucha Bros deliver a double superkick but Hobbs knocks them down and tags in Marshall. Fenix ascends to the top, but Aaron Solo hops up on the apron.

Alex Abrahantes gets in his face before Harley Cameron delivers a low blow to him. Solo sprays something in Fenix’s eyes, allowing Marshall to roll him up. Fenix kicks out and Marshall sets up for a move but Fenix counters into a hurricanrana and rolls him up for the win.
