AEW RAMPAGE RESULTS (10/7/2022)

We here the usual “This is Rampage, baby!” theme song and accompanying video package and then we shoot inside the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. for the start of tonight’s special live episode of the show.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. Rush & Private Party

We hear the familiar sounds of the theme song of AEW Champion Jon Moxley. As “Wild Thing” plays, the leader of the paradigm shift in the pro wrestling business heads to the ring, making his custom entrance through the crowd. He settles inside the ring and his music dies down.

Now we hear Claudio Castagnoli’s entrance tune and the former ROH World Champion makes his way out and settles in the squared circle as well. Finally, Wheeler Yuta’s music plays and the third and final member of the Blackpool Combat Club heads to the ring.

With the three settled in the ring we also see Rush and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) in the ring. The commentary team of Jim Ross, Excalibur, Chris Jericho and Blackpool Combat Club’s William Regal banter amongst themselves as the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running.

After a couple of minutes of back-and-forth action, we see the Rush and Private Party pull ahead, dominating the offense before the commentators send us to our first mid-match commercial break of the evening as the action continues in the ring.

We settle back in from the break, and we see the baby face trio start to shift the momentum in their favor as they begin taking over on offense in this one. Castagnoli ends up as the legal man in the ring and with Quen and Kassidy in the ring, the former WWE Superstar known as Cesaro does his “Giant Swing” spot on both Private Party members. This elicits a huge pop from the fans in D.C.

The action settles into the finish, which ultimately sees the team of Moxley, Castagnoli and Yuta pick up the win. Once the match wraps up, we hear Regal thank J.R., Chris Jericho and “the guy in the mask” by saying, “Goodnight gentlemen, that’s all for me!” Jericho fires back at Regal, “What does that mean?!” Alrighty.

Winners: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta

The Varsity Blonds vs. Tony Nese & Josh Woods

We move on to tag-team action now. The Varisty Blonds duo of Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison make their way down to the ring. And now their opponents are out as well, as “The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese and Josh Woods head out accompanied by “Smart” Mark Sterling.

Now the bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our second match of the evening. This one doesn’t last long at all, as Nese and Woods hit a double-team finisher for the pin fall victory. Only a couple of minutes for the match, but the action continues on the microphone once the bell rings for a second time.

Winners: Tony Nese & Josh Woods

After The Match: The Acclaimed Confront “Smart” Mark Sterling, Nese & Woods

Once the match wraps up and the theme music dies down for the winners, the manager of Nese and Woods, “Smart” Mark Sterling, gets on the mic and announces that he has trademarked the term “Varsity” after dropping a line from ole’ Junior Soprano in The Sopranos about how Tony Soparno “never had the makings of a varsity athlete.”

The same video clip that Tony Khan posted on Twitter prior to the show. Anyways, as he continues to talk, the theme for The Acclaimed hits and out comes the duo of Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. Caster does a freestyle rap on his way to the ring where he drops a line at the end about NBA star Draymond Green of the Warriors sucker punch on Jordan Poole.

Tay Melo & Anna Jay..A.S. vs. Madison Rayne & Skye Blue

Now it’s time for women’s tag-team action, as the Jericho Appreciation Society duo of Tay Melo and Anna Jay..A.S. make their way out and head to the ring. They settle inside as the “Wizard” of wrestling sings their praises and their music dies down.

Now the theme for their opponents hits and out comes AEW women’s division coach and wrestler Madison Rayne along with Skye Blue. The two also make themselves at home inside the squared circle and now the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running.

After some early back-and-forth action, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the team of Melo and Jay..A.S. start to shift the offensive momentum into their favor. As we return from the break, we see this one work its’ way to the finish, which sees Anna Jay..A.S. get the tap out for the victory after locking in a match-ending choke.

Winners: Tay Melo & Anna Jay…A.S.

AEW Trios Tag-Team Championship
Death Triangle (C) vs. The Dark Order

We shoot backstage to Mark Henry, who is ready for our weekly pre-main event split-screen discussion with the competitors scheduled to compete for the AEW Trios Tag-Team Championships. “The World’s Strongest Man” sends things over to the six men, with each three-man teams speaking their piece before the WWE Hall of Fame legend and member of the AEW broadcast team declares that it has, in fact, been enough talking and that it is, indeed, time for tonight’s main event of the evening.

The trio of “The Bastard” PAC and The Lucha Bros (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo) who are collectively the current AEW Trios Tag-Team Champions, make their way out for the main event of the evening here on this special live edition of AEW Rampage.

Also making their way out are the challengers The Dark Order, which consists of John Silver, Preston “10” Vance and Alex Reynolds. They settle inside the ring as well and their entrance tune dies down. Soon after, the bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our final match of the evening.

The commentators note that this is the first of what will be all championship matches to finish out the evening, with each of the bouts scheduled for the AEW Battle Of The Belts IV special event that follows the live Rampage broadcast all featuring titles on-the-line.

After some very fast-paced, hard-hitting offense from all six guys, with some early high spots to get the crowd on their feet in the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C., we see the trio of The Dark Order start to pull ahead into the lead. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

When we return from the break, we see things start to go The Dark Order’s way for a while, with the commentators singing the praises of Preston “10” Vance, as he puts on a great offensive display. It doesn’t stay that way, however, as the Death Triangle trio start to take over.

As we wind down into the finish, we see the Death Triangle members trying to end this one with Penta going for his Fear Factor spot but not connecting. Instead, the trio continue to dominate as RUSH makes his way out. He hands the ring bell hammer to PAC, who ends up using it to knock out one of the members of The Dark Order. He slaps his submission finisher on him and picks up the win.
