AEW Rampage Review (St Patricks Slam) Review – March 17, 2023

TNT Title Match
Powerhouse Hobbs (c) vs. Rey Fenix

Powerhouse Hobbs & Rey Fenix stare one another down. Hobbs sends Fenix crashing down into the mat, then pulls him back up. Fenix sends Hobbs over the top rope to the outside, then delivers a pair of tope suicidas and an Asai moonsault off the ropes. Hobbs sends Fenix crashing into the barricade, then delivers a right hand and tosses him back into the ring. He then whips Fenix into the corner and delivers a stomp then follows it up with a vertical suplex that takes us to a break.

After the break Hobbs is beating down Fenix on the outside. He drags him back in before Fenix delivers a pair of kicks to his head and a chop. Hobbs plants Fenix, but Fenix manages to deliver a few kicks. He looks to deliver a German suplex but Hobbs escapes. Fenix sets up for it once again and executes it the 2nd time then delivers a cutter. Hobbs whips Fenix into the corner, then spinebuster and goes for a pin but Fenix kicks out. Fenix then delivers a superkick and a splash off the top rope but Hobbs delivers a 2nd spinebuster and Town Business for the win.

Winner & Still TNT Champion: Powerhouse Hobbs (14:00) (STILL CHAMPION!!!)

After the match Alex Abrahantes gets in Hobbs’ face but QT Marshall levels him with the Diamond Cutter.

After the break we head to a video from Stu Grayson who has a stern warning for the Blackpool Combat Club following the events of Wednesday night.

Taya Valkyrie vs. Ava Lawless

Taya Valkyrie sends Ava Lawless crashing into the mat. She delivers a pair of double knees in the corner then follows it up with a couple of chops and a spear then she hits the Road To Valhalla for the win.

We then head to a video of Stokely Hathaway training with Matt Hardy,Ethan Page & Isiah Kassidy for his match with Hook this coming Wednesday on Dynamite.

Tag Team Match
Jericho Appreciation Society (Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) vs. The Bollywood Boyz (Gurv Sihra & Harv Sihra)

Angelo Parker rains down right hands on Gurv Sihra then Harv Sihra tags in and delivers a back elbow off the top rope but Parker rolls out of the ring to take a breather. He gets back inside, then tags in Matt Menard. Menard shoves Harv into the corner then tags Parker back in. Parker hits a suplex that sends us to a break.

After the break Gurv tags in. He delivers a pair of back elbows to the Jericho Appreciation Soc then follows it up with a Russian Leg Sweep to Menard and a chop to Parker. Parker then delivers an elbow drop off Menard’s back and follow it up with a double DDT for the win.

Winners: Jericho Appreciation Society (5:41)

After the match Jericho Appreciation Society mocks The Acclaimed by scissoring one another.

We then head to a video of Don Callis greeting Konosuke Takeshita at the airport as he arrives in Winnipeg.

We are back from the break, we head to a video hyping up the match between El Hijo Del Vikingo & Kenny Omega on next Wednesday’s Dynamite.

We then head to a video of a confrontation between AEW World Tag Team Champions The Gunns & Top Flight.

Trios Champion Brody King vs. Daniel Garcia

Daniel Garcia immediately rolls out of the ring then he hugs Chris Jericho but Brody King loses his patience and forces him to get back inside. Garcia delivers a kick but King delivers a splash in the corner. Garcia fires off several right hands but King lands a chop.

Garcia rolls back to the outside to take a second to recuperate and King follows him out there. He delivers a 2nd chop, then tosses Garcia into the barricade and executes a 3rd one. He sits him on a chair then delivers a running crossbody. Garcia delivers a drop toe hold to King that sends him crashing into the ring steps that sends us to a break.

We are back from the break King delivers a Boss Man Slam. He then follows it up with a Piledriver and goes for a pin, but Garcia kicks out. King delivers a chop and a cannonball, then goes for a pin but Garcia kicks out. King sets up for a piledriver but Garcia escapes and delivers several knees then locks in a Sleeper. King escapes and sends Garcia crashing into the mat then hits a lariat.

Garcia rolls up King, but King kicks out. He then transitions into the Walls of Jericho, but King grabs the bottom rope to break the hold while Garcia distracts the referee Jericho hits King with Floyd The Bat. Garcia then locks in an upper body submission and King fades.
