AJPW Champion Carnival 2023 Finals Results (5/7/2023), Shotaro Ashino Wins The Tournament

On May 7th, All Japan Pro-Wrestling presented the finals of the Champion Carnival 2023 which took place at the Ota Ward General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan in front a capacity crowd.

The Block B winner Shotaro Ashino defeated Block A winner T-Hawk by submission to be crowned the winner of the Champion Carnival 2023 Tournament. Ashino will go on to face AJPW Triple Crown Winner Yuji Nagata on May 29th at Super Power Series 2023 at Korakuen Hall.

Champion Carnival 2023 Finals also featured stars from AJPW, NJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH in numerous inter-promotional matches.

In a highly anticipated match, Voodoo Murders faction members Suwama, Rei & Jun Saito (AJPW) defeated Kongo faction members Kenoh, Hi69 & Hajime Ohara (Pro Wrestling NOAH). After the match, Suwama, Jun and Rei Saito attacked Kenoh then placed him in a body bag in an apparent attempt to send a message to Kenoh.

Here are the full results and highlights for AJPW Champion Carnival 2023 for May 7th:

  • Main Event Champion Carnival 2023 Finals: T-Hawk vs. Shotaro Ashino defeated T-Hawk via Ankle Lock Submission. Shotaro Ashino is the winner of Champion Carnival 2023.
  • NJPW vs. AJPW: Tetsuya Naito & BUSHI (NJPW) defeated Kento Miyahara & Yuma Anzai (AJPW) via pinfall after Naito hit a Destino on Anzai.
  • AJPW vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH: Suwama, Rei & Jun Saito (AJPW) defeated Kenoh, Hi69 & Hajime Ohara (Pro Wrestling NOAH) via pinfall. Suwama pinned Ohara after hitting a Last Ride Power Bomb. Suwama, Jun and Rei Saito attacked Kenoh and put him into a body bag after the match.
  • AJPW vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH: KONO (AJPW) defeated Manabu Soya (Pro Wrestling NOAH) via submission with an arm bar.
  • AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Naruki Doi (c) defeated  Dan Tamura via pinfall to retain the AJPW World Jr Heavyweight Title.
  • Minoru Suzuki & Hokuto Omori defeated Yuma Aoyagi & Takao Omori via pinfall. Suzuki pinned Takao Omari following a Gotch Piledriver.
  • Cyrus, Shuji Ishikawa, Ren Ayabe & Oskar Leube defeated AJPW Triple Crown Champion Yuji Nagata, Satoshi Kojima, Mitsuya Nagai and Black Menso-re vis pinfall. Ishikawa pinned Menso-re after a reverse piledriver.
  • Unagi Sayaka, SAKI & Yoshitatsu defeated Hikaru Sato, Kaori Yoneyama & Yuu via pinfall, SAKI pinned Yoneyama.
  • Atsuki Aoyagi, Rising Hayato & El Lindaman defeated Kaito Ishida, Kotaro Suzuki & Yutani via pinfall. Aoyagi pinned Suzuki after a 450 splash.
  • AJPW vs NJPW: Yuto Nakashima, Ryohei Oiwa & Kosei Fujita (NJPW) defeated Ryuki Honda, Ryo Inoue & Oji Shiiba (AJPW) via submission. Fujita tapped out Inoue with a armlock.
