Alexa Bliss to have a dramatic character change

Although for a long time she was front and center in the WWE roster, in recent months and years, Alexa Bliss has faded from the spotlight. This became even more apparent when, for the first time in years, Bliss main-evented Raw in a singles match.

For the eagle-eyed bettors calculating the best in risk free bets as to what characters will come out on top this season, however, Alexa Bliss would be unlikely to have been included in their predictions of how things will play out. However, with rumors beginning to swirl that Bliss will receive a major character re-work in the coming months, we might have to revisit these online bet predictions!

But what is the latest with Alexa Bliss, and will the WWE top-brass give her the overhaul many fans have been calling for?

Who is Alexa Bliss?

Also known as ‘The Goddess’, Alexa Bliss was one of the WWE’s top female characters for several years.

Bliss made her main roster debut in 2016 and would later go on to become a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion — being the first woman to hold the title twice!

Bliss later transferred to the Raw brand in 2017, and it was here that she would become a three-time Raw Women’s Champion. Along with Nikki Cross, she also became the first two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion in WWE history, thus making her only the second Women’s Triple Crown Champion.

Following her dramatic capture of the WWE 24/7 Championship in July 2022, Bliss became the first woman in WWE history to have won every single championship title available to women on the main roster.

Has Bliss stagnated?

Despite having achieved such historic feats in her career so far, however, Alexa Bliss has faded from the spotlight of the main roster in recent weeks and months.

Many fans have argued that this departure from the spotlight has happened because of a lack of character development by Bliss. Without any major narratives to carry her through the season, Bliss’ character appears little more than the remnants of her old gimmicks, without much actual character left.

This was all but confirmed on WWE Monday Night Raw when Bayley harshly critiqued Bliss for being a hollow version of her former self. This was also picked up by the commentators who noted that Bliss was putting in a half-hearted effort in the match.

Since some of the more supernatural elements of her character were dropped earlier this year, Bliss doesn’t seem to have had the same draw as she once did. However, in an unusual twist, this floundering is itself becoming part of her new story arc!

At one point during the main event match on WWE Monday Night Raw, the lights flickered on and off briefly during the show. Some enthusiastic fans have taken this to mean that Bray Wyatt is due to make a return and will align himself with Bliss. Although this is purely speculation at this point, this development could nevertheless trigger a redemption arc for both characters.

This rumor mill initially got whirring earlier in the show when a QR code briefly flashed on screen during a segment with Austin Theory. When scanned by viewers, this QR code launched a video. Even more cryptically, this video was the ‘White Rabbit’ video that had previously played during a WWE Raw commercial break.

There was a further ‘White Rabbit’ tease during the commercial break which — many fans noticed — occurred during the segment where Bayley launched her critique of Bliss.

What does this mean for the future?

Although it is not yet clear what the exact meaning of all these cryptic messages is, it is clear that WWE fans are in for some wild narrative turns and character story arcs in the near future.

For the likes of Alexa Bliss, this can’t come soon enough. The genius behind the most recent interaction on WWE Monday Night Raw is that it presents her with a prime opportunity to come back into the limelight.

While it is not clear exactly how things will pan out, it is clear that we can expect to see Bliss take center stage once again. When we can expect Bliss to respond to these rumors once again, however, remains to be seen.
