On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF was approached by Renee Paquette, who asked him how he felt about his next title defense.

MJF will defend his title against Sammy Guevara, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, and Darby Allin at Double or Nothing next Sunday night.

Instead of simply answering the question, the top star slapped the microphone from her grasp and walked away.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “The segment where MJF slapped the mic out of Renee Paquette’s hands was not the original plan.”

There was supposed to be a segment with everyone involved in the match as well as Britt Baker in which Baker stated that if MJF wins, he won’t hold the title for long Bay Bay, implying her boyfriend, Adam Cole, would get the next title shot.

“There was something about it that was deemed not good, and instead of doing it again, they changed to what they did,” Meltzer stated. It was also speculated that the decision was made so that fans wouldn’t realize Cole was getting the next shot and MJF was winning at Double or Nothing.
