– In a groundbreaking move, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon revealed on Raw that female Superstars will compete in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match on Sunday, Jan. 28, streaming live on WWE Network.
The winner will earn a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 34 on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE’s plan for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match was kept so tightly under wraps that even the competitors who stood in the ring with Stephanie were left in the dark.
WWE sources say that the women were not told ahead of time about what Stephanie would be announcing on Raw, so their reactions afterward were genuine.
It is said that only a handful of people were in the know. Most of the production team didn’t find out until the announcement went down, which was obviously done to keep the news from leaking.
The Bella Twins posted a video on YouTube with their surprised reactions to Stephanie’s announcement:
– The Miz is returning to Raw this Monday.

The Miz was last seen on Raw on Nov. 20. He took time off to film “The Marine 6: Close Quarters” in London, England. Production began on Nov. 27 and ended last week.
