Backstage Update On AEW’s Plans For Ric Flair Following His Debut With The Company

Ric Flair made his debut with AEW as a surprise “gift” to Sting from AEW President Tony Khan, as seen on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. Flair was supposed to make his AEW debut in 2021, but the company decided not to use him after Dark Side of the Ring’s “Plane Ride From Hell” episode aired.

Flair’s appearance appears to be a one-time occurrence, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

Meltzer stated, “Khan wanted him to be part of the Sting [retirement] storyline and he’s supposed to be on the show as part of this through March. I believe part of this is also that AEW will help promote his “Whoooo” energy drink, or at least that is what is being talked about”

Sting also posted the following on Instagram about Flair:

“He put me on the map in the very beginning, and @ricflairnatureboy is going to be with me every step of the way, and we’ll go out together in a blaze of glory! WWWOOOO! OOOWWW! It’s showtime! ???”
