When A.J. McKee and Patricio “Pitbull” Freire end their fight, Adam Borics will be the next challenger for the Bellator featherweight title. Borics defeated Mads Burnell in a unanimous decision at Bellator 276 recently, in what is already billed a Fight of the Year contender.
Borics and Burnell were ranked second and third respectively at Bellator 276. Borics and Burnell put up 25 minutes of labor, with Borics taking the lead on the scoreboard (49-46, 50-45, 49-46). Burnell slipped one position in the revised Bellator rankings for March 15 following the bout. Borics is now the second-best featherweight in the world, trailing only McKee and Freire.
After steamrolling recent title hopeful John Salter and sweeping the scorecards, Johnny Eblen made a solid case to challenge Gegard Mousasi for the Bellator middleweight gold. Eblen has risen two positions in the rankings to become the top challenger in the 185-pound class. Salter fell from first to third place.
