Blowin’ Smoke w/Kemper Jones – Bragging Rights Preshow

Blowin’ Smoke with Kemper Jones

Bragging Rights Preshow

Please Note: I’m entering this column on my cell phone so I apologize for the lack of formatting (Bold, etc.)
.
I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get this column done. We picked up a nasty virus on our desktop yesterday that has basically made it good for nothing, at least until I figure out a way to fix it.

I planned on bringing my laptop to work with me tonight, but my girlfriend is taking online college courses. As a result, I had to leave it with her at home.

I had the brilliant idea to type this out on my Blackberry as as an email. Pain in the ass as it may be, at least I know I’ll get it done. All I’ll have to do tonight is some copying and pasting. If anything, it shows some dedication. Sorry to go on about all that, my apologies. Onto the PPV predictions…

Natalya vs. Layla Unified Divas Championship

I’m surprised that WWE is giving Natalya another shot at the title. Women’s feuds seem to last three weeks and that’s about it. With the entire roster of Divas now vying for the same championship, I expected someone else to move into the #1 contender spot. Following the McCool/Natalya DQ ending at HIAC, I’m at least happy she’ll go up against Layla instead.

I’m gonna go and predict Natalya walking away with the belt. Shocking, I know. Would WWE want to put a title on a woman that would actually wrestle? I expect McCool to accidentally cost Lay-Cool the match and finally create a rift that will eventually break them up. McCool will probably claim she never lost, and continue carrying her belt until a 2nd match against Nattie at Surivivor Series.

Preferred & Predicted Winner: New Unified Divas Champion Natalya

Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler

This is, without a doubt, the match I’m most looking forward to. We all know what Bryan can do in the ring, and Ziggler has been a highlight of the Smackdown roster dince his arrival. This could very well be a show stealer.

While, I’d prefer to see Bryan continue his momentum, I can’t help but assume Vickie will assist Dolph in picking up the win. Soiling what should otherwise be a really solid match.

Preferred Winner: Daniel Bryan
Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Smackdown vs. Raw 7-on-7 Tag Team Elimination Match

After SD’s victory last year, I see no way the B show will be given a win here again. Look for strong showings from all of the participants.

Miz needs this win to avenge his previous 2 PPV losses to Bryan. Him being the captain will give him an edge in being taken seriously after looking a little weak tapping out twice. It needed to be done to elevate Bryan. Miz now gets his receipt, and is the last man standing.

Preferred & Predicted Winners: Team Raw (Miz the last member left.)

Kane vs. The Undertaker Buried Alive Match World Heavyweight Championship

This one could go either way. Word going around says that Taker is due to take some time off (again) for surgery. I don’t see him missing his 20th anniversary at Survivor Series though. If he were to lose, he’d more than likely be gone more than a month.

At the same time, I have no desire to see Taker as champion again. With hsi limited schedule, it doesn’t make any sense.

If Kane wins, there are others he could feud with, but they would be lackluster in comparison to his recent program with UT.

Preferred Winner: Either way, I don’t care much.
Predicted Winner: Undertaker, just to make sure he’s still around for Survivor Series.

Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton WWE Championship

No matter what happens in this match, the big story coming out of it will be Cena. Will he help Barrett win the title, cost Barrett the match accidentally, or refuse to do anything and be fired?

I’ll go with Cena reluctantly helping Barrett beat Orton. It is the best way for the Cena/Nexus angle to move forward. It should also result in more heat on Cena than he’s seen in a long time from a live WWE crowd. It will get harder and harder for Cena to explain his actions.

As I stated in a previous column, Barrett being champion will probably lead to Cena becoming #1 contender at either TLC or Royal Rumble. The GM can lift his restrictions, and Cena will get his revenge.

Personally, I’d have Cena refuse to do anything or accidentally make Barrett lose. This could leave him in a position where he’s “fired” or on an even shorter leash. I don’t see it happening, but a guy can dream, can’t he?

Preferred Winner: Randy Orton, only because of the possibility for Cena to get “fired”.
Predicted Winner: A deserving Wade Barrett. While he may not have been in WWE long, he has left a great impression on this writer

In Closing

My hands have both fallen asleep from tying on this tiny keypad and I gotta get some things finished up here at work.

I haven’t heard from my girlfriend’s brother about picking up a tape to record the PPV for me yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. He has been coming through with them for a while now, so I have no reason to think he won’t this time.

One last thing. I strongly recommend Kirby’s Epic Yarn to anyone that owns a Wii. If you can get past the ridiculous amount of cuteness, there’s a ton of high-quality 2D Nintendo platforming goodness packed into this title.

For anyone that may have missed it in my last column, Amazon.com still has the $10 gaming credit it you preorder Smackdown vs. Raw 2011. Release date shipping is only 99 cents.

I also found a deal that Gamestop is running where you get $20 off the Survivor Series or TLC PPV with the pre-order and purchase of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version. This offer is valid in-store and online.
