Watch Live Broadcast and Bet at Rabona Sportsbook

South America is famous for drama series. However, could you imagine that a real soap opera would happen right on the football field? Thousands of players watched a live broadcast of this event at Rabona.

On September 5, a qualifying match was to be played between Brazil and Argentina, as part of the qualification for the World Cup. The event took place in Sao Paulo. The qualifying match for the 2022 World Cup between the national teams of Argentina and Brazil ended just a few minutes after it started. Already during the 5th minute after the starting whistle, suddenly, employees of sanitary service and officers of local police appeared on the field and demanded to stop the tournament. After negotiations that lasted several minutes, the Argentine national team, together with the coaching staff, left the field and went to the locker room. The match was broadcasted at various sportsbooks, including Rabona, and hundreds of fans observed the drama via screens.

The reason for the huge scandal is amazing. The thing is that three players from the starting lineup of Argentina’s team violated the country’s quarantine measures. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, defender Christian Romero, and midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso, as well as another midfielder Emiliano Buendía, who remained in reserve, violated the rules for entering Brazil. According to Brazil’s protocols, they could not play on the field.

The essence of the scandal is that all the above-mentioned four players play for English clubs. According to the provisions issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, all country visitors entering Brazil from the UK over the past two weeks    must go to quarantine for a period of 14 days upon arriving in the South American capital. Brazilian officials insist that Romero, Martinez, Buendía, and Lo Celso, who violated these rules, should immediately return to Britain.

Many fans, who watched a live broadcast online at Rabona and other sportsbooks, wonder how players have managed pass border control and spend several days before the match in the country. There are no clear answers; the situation remains unclear. According to journalist Yunas Giver, when entering Brazil, they allegedly specified in declarations that they had not been in Britain for the past 14 days. However, this turned out to be deception since four players were on the list of their clubs for the Premier League games last weekend, which took place in the UK. According to one of the versions, they forged the relevant documents.

As the journalist of the beIN TV channel Roberto Rojas writes, when the scandal began, the captain of the Argentine team Lionel Messi asked the representatives of the Brazilian authorities who appeared on the field: “We have been here for three days, why are you doing this only now?”

A few hours before the start of the match, the Anvisa agency issued a statement that four Argentine national team players violated the rules of entry into the country, should be isolated, and cannot take part in the game. However, according to representatives of CONMEBOL, the Argentines have complied with all the norms of the COVID protocol established by them. That is why the match began. However, Anvisa had its own opinion, and it moved on to decisive action.

The match hasn’t been played till the end. Thousands of fans who watched this competition via live broadcast at Rabona were impressed and became witnesses of a real drama on the playing field. We continue to monitor the situation.
