On May 6th, DDT Pro-Wrestling presented the 1st round of its King of DDT 2023 Tournament at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan in front of a very lively crowd.

The tournament, which featured 16 DDT Pro stars, saw eight wrestlers move forward to the second round and eight individuals eliminated on May 6th.

The main event featured Yuki Ueno gaining a bit of revenge as he defeated Naruki Doi to move on to the second round. Doi took the DDT Pro Universal Title off Ueno back on January 13 in a triple threat match.

The winner of the King of DDT 2023 Tournament will get an opportunity at the KO-D Openweight Championship currently held by Yuji Hino.

Here are the full results and highlights for the first round of King of DDT 2023 on May 6th:

  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: Yuki Ueno defeated Naruki Doi via pinfall following his WR finisher
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: Kotaro Suzuki defeated KANON via pinfall after a roll up
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: MAO defeated Takeshi Masada following a spin kick to the head.
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: Jun Akiyama defeated Tetsuya Endo via pinfall after escaping an airplane spin and rolling up Endo.
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: Chris Brookes defeated HARASHIMA via pinfall after hitting two consecutive praying mantis bombs..
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1: Sanshiro Takagi defeated Yukio Sakaguchi via pinfall after a lariat.
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1:  Hideki Okaya defeated Shunma Katsumata via pinfall following a double arm suplex.
  • King Of DDT 2023 – Round 1 Kazusada Higuchi defeated Yusuke Okada via referee stoppage following a headbutt by Higuchi that knocked out Okada.
