Early Estimate On Pay Per View Buys For AEW Double Or Nothing 2023

The build for this year’s AEW Double or Nothing was interesting as the company chose to have the Anarchy in the Arena match as the main event rather than having MJF defend the World Heavyweight Title in a Fatal 4-way match against Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.

Many believed that the show’s pay-per-view sales would suffer because the lineup was weaker than usual going into the show. It doesn’t seem to be the case, though.

According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, television PPV buys performed “virtually identical with Revolution on the Thursday after the show, as within 100 nationally and 0.2 percent ahead of the same pace for the previous show.”

The other figures, including those for streaming (Bleacher Report in the US and FITE globally), were also comparable, trending to the same figures as Revolution in February.

CM Punk vs. Hangman Page for the World Title was the main event of Double or Nothing last year. Television buys were down 31.3% from last year’s event.

Meltzer noted that the current best estimate puts the total at between 130,000 and 135,000. Keep in mind that since not all of the data is in yet, this number could go slightly down or up.

On June 25, AEW and NJPW will host Forbidden Door 2 on pay-per-view.
