On November 20th at the NJPW and STARDOM’s Historic X Over event the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion will be crowned. After tonight’s STARDOM Goddess of Stardom Tag League Tournament event, the final two competitors of that tournament were determined.
It will be KAIRI meeting Mayu Iwatani with the winner to be crowned the first ever IWGP Women’s Champion.

To advance to the finals, KAIRI defeated Jazzy Gabert while Mayu Iwatani was victorious over Utami Hayashashita .
Depending on the outcome on November 20th, either KAIRI or Iwatani will be defending the IWGP Women’s Title at NJPW’s biggest show of the year Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th 2023.
The first IWGP Women's Title defense will be January 4th at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
