AEW star Harley Cameron is recovering from a serious injury sustained during a recent episode of Dynamite, and veteran announcer Tony Schiavone has now provided an update on her condition.
Speaking on the What Happened When podcast, Schiavone revealed that Cameron suffered a broken nose and has undergone multiple procedures to repair the damage. The injury occurred during the May 28th edition of AEW Dynamite, where Megan Bayne dropped Cameron face-first onto the steel steps in a violent spot during a No Disqualification tag team match.
“She sent me a picture, and… she’s had a lot of work done,” Schiavone said. “Her face was all swollen.” He noted the injury was “significant” and praised Cameron’s toughness and resolve throughout her recovery.
Cameron has also addressed the injury on social media, where she shared a post-surgery image that highlights the extent of the damage (note: graphic content).
Despite the setback, Schiavone was full of praise for the rising AEW star. “I’ve stayed in touch with her, because… she is just a wonderful young lady, truly one of my favorites,” he added. “She’s multi-talented. She’s got a great attitude. There’s a lot to like about Harley, and I hope she gets back very, very soon.”
Schiavone also commented on the physicality of women’s wrestling in today’s era. “I’m telling you, women’s wrestling can be really rough,” he said, pointing to the evolving intensity and danger of the style.
As of now, there is no official timeline for Cameron’s return to AEW programming. In her absence, Anna Jay—her former tag team partner—has reunited with Tay Melo.
