Kevin Kelly’s removal from the AEW roster page on Thursday sparked speculation among fans that he may be leaving the promotion, and true enough, he is no longer listed.
When AEW’s Collision program debuted on TNT in June of last year, Kelly and Nigel McGuinness were the lead play-by-play announcers. Tony Schiavone subsequently joined the booth. Neither Thursday’s taping of Collision nor this past Sunday’s Revolution pay-per-view included him.
Over the weekend, he mentioned that someone on Twitter had asked him why he wasn’t used more often and that he had been “libeled” by Ian, who was presumably Ian Riccaboni.
Wade Keller of PWTorch.com has confirmed that Kelly has been let go by the promotion. According to the report, his accusations that Riccaboni was trying to destroy his career and was libelous led to his job loss.
I keep asking why but get pushed aside. It’s ok because there is no one better than me. Ask the ones that know and they’ll tell you.

But the idea of what I bring to the table is lost there because Ian libeled me. So I sit on the bench, valued by my peers, waiting to get my number called.
