WWE veteran Kevin Owens spoke with the Toronto Sun about various topics, including what he might consider doing if he had to retire from the ring due to his injury.
Owens said, “Yeah, I did have to face that. you know? What would I do if I can’t get back in the ring? And obviously staying in wrestling is of the utmost importance for me, because I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else. And I think I have a lot to offer behind the scenes. And you know, this was well before my surgery anyway, or this injury, is I always tried to get involved and learn other sides of what we do. And behind the scenes stuff, I always had an interest in it. So there was that part of me that thought, ‘Well maybe it’ll be time to transition to that.’ And I’ve spoken to Triple H about that, and how he knew that he was ready to transition to [an] almost full-time behind the scenes role, as opposed to being in the ring. But again, this was well before my surgery. Because you know, can’t kid ourselves either. We’re not getting younger, there’s only one way this is going. And while I do feel like I still have several good years left in me, you have to be conscious of that.”
On having looked at other ventures:
“When things looked like they might not go the way I wish and I might not be able to get back in the ring, I started exploring other avenues that I thought I could have interest in. Like, I got an agent for some acting gigs maybe. I got I did some in Quebec back home. And then I love animals, and rescuing animals would be a huge, something I’d love to do when I’m able to step away from the ring. So trying to have land and rescue some animals and give them a place to live, stuff like that. But you know, I guess it’s going to have to wait because I’m back. I’m back for now.”
