As PWMania.com previously reported, WWE star “The Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre’s current contract with the company is set to expire this coming April shortly following WrestleMania 40, with a number of news outlets reporting that he has yet to re-sign.

It was then revealed that McIntyre was booked for WWE shows this coming May in Italy, which would seemingly indicate that he has already re-signed with the company or is close to doing so, but there was no word at the time as to why the company booked The Scottish Warrior beyond April.

Fightful Select reports that McIntyre’s current contract with WWE has been extended past WrestleMania 40 due to a number of injuries he previously suffered and the time he has been away from the company.

The report also mentions that this is the reason why McIntyre has been booked for the Italy shows even though he has yet to sign a new deal with the company. Both sides are currently in talks with the hope that a new contract will be drawn up soon.

WWE has shown more respect and admiration for McIntyre’s current work on-screen, and that includes his commitment to doing media and community events.
