For the upcoming Over Drive special event, Impact Wrestling has announced a major title match and title tournament finals.
AEW star Frankie Kazarian won the Impact X-Division Title from Mike Bailey earlier this month at Bound For Glory, but then used Option C to relinquish the belt for a shot at Impact World Champion Josh Alexander. Kazarian vs. Alexander has been announced for the Over Drive main event.
Kazarian, who is already a three-time former Impact World Tag Team Champion and a five-time former X-Division Champion, will be looking to become an Impact Triple Crown Champion at Over Drive. Alexander won the World Title from Moose on April 23, and has since retained it over Moose in their rematch, Tomohiro Ishii, Gabriel Fuerza (at a DWW event), Eric Young, Joe Doering, Jacob Fatu (at a JCP event), Alex Shelley, Masha Slamovich, 1 Called Manders (at a TWR event), Eddie Edwards, and Bobby Fish.
The eight-man tournament to determine the new Impact X-Division Champion will begin next Thursday night, with Black Taurus taking on Laredo Kid and Alan Angels taking on Trey Miguel.
The quarterfinals will resume next Thursday, with PJ Black taking on Yuya Uemura and Bailey taking on Kenny King.
Taurus or Kid will face Black or Uemura in the semifinals, while Angels or Miguel will face Bailey or King. The finals for the vacant X-Division Title will then be held at Over Drive, with Taurus or Kid or Black or Uemura facing off against Angels or Miguel or Bailey or King.
The second Impact Over Drive event will be broadcast live from Old Forester’s Paristown Hall in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, November 18. For Ultimate Insiders members, the event will be broadcast on Impact Plus and YouTube. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
