WWE CEO Nick Khan is credited with the current NXT strategy, which involves using main roster stars in NXT to work with the younger talent and help boost NXT ratings.

The most recent example resulted in a significant increase in ratings. Wes Lee was the North American Champion entering Tuesday’s NXT episode before losing it to Dominik Mysterio in the main event. This week’s ratings were the second-highest of the year, as well as the second-highest total viewership since 2021.

When World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins defended his title against Bron Breakker, NXT received its highest total viewership since 2021.

In the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that some people in NXT are pushing for more of this in order to outperform Dynamite in terms of ratings.

Meltzer wrote, “The two points most talked about by different people were that this is a contract year so these gains are coming at a great time for the renewal price, and those in NXT who are definitely pushing for the idea of doing numbers that beat Dynamite.”

Dynamite nearly always beat NXT in the ratings during the Wednesday Night Wars until WWE moved NXT to Tuesday night.
