Prior to joining AEW during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ricky Starks established himself in the NWA. He joined Team Taz right away before breaking away to form his own team. Since then, he has gradually moved up the card until he is a notable uppercard to main event player for the promotion.

Richard Starks, also known as Starks, has established Starks as his ring name. On May 11, the AEW wrestler had attorney Michael Dockins register the trademark with the USPTO for use in goods and services on behalf of his business, Dream Palace. This is how it is described:

“Mark For: RICKY STARKS™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of hats; Shirts; Socks; Bandanas; Shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts.”

This Wednesday at AEW Dynamite, Starks will wrestle Jay White.

A match for Starks at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event on May 28, 2023, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, has yet to be confirmed by AEW.
