Shawn Hernandez Talks About Vince Russo, Dixie Carter, Latin American Xchange, Six-Sided Ring

Former TNA star Hernandez recently appeared on The Wrestling Compadres Slamcast. He talked about his time in TNA and being apart of LAX, the return of the six-sided during, Vince Russo and a lot more. Here are the highlights:

Being apart of LAX: We were rockstars. I was doing Indys in Mexico and I got a call that said they wanted me to be apart of LAX and I was going to be with King of Ring Of Honor Homicide and a Mexican Legend in Connan. I don’t know how it worked out but we caught lightening in a bottle with Konnan spitting those words and Homicide doing his crazy antics and me throwing people around. It just took off like a rocket.

Konnan leaving TNA affecting LAX: When Konnan decided to quite, that just killed LAX in more ways than one because we got to see first hand what he had to do to keep LAX going when he was there. LAX was the hottest thing because every time that creative pushed some corny storyline or angle, Konnan nixed it and fought tooth and nail for it and still didn’t win and threatened to quit. When he left no one had our back and we just fell apart.

Thoughts on the six-sided ring coming back and some talent being unhappy about it: I started on the Indys and wrestled a lot in Mexico so I’ve been around those rings a lot and I’m different. At the end of the day your going to wrestle in whatever the guy who signs your checks is going to put in the ring.

Working with Vince Russo and him getting a bad reputation: I think he’s cool. He’s hip on culture compared to some of the other guys I had to work with in creative, he at least tried. I agree he gets a bad rap because if he had full control of the product than yeah, fire Russo or whatever ya’ll want to chant. I mean he has to mix his ideas with other creative people plus what people’s contract stipulate they have to be in, how many segments they gotta be in and stuff like that, so he gets a big recipe thrown at him and he’s got to try to make it work.

Working with Dixie Carter: I think the ladies fine. There nothing wrong with the lady. In my opinion she can be smart, she knows that she doesn’t have the inner knowledge of the wrestling business so she appoints people to those positions. Now does she appoint the right people…that’s up to you guys to decide. You can’t put the whole blame on her.
