AEW star Swerve Strickland recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet on a number of topics including the psychology behind the home invasion angle during his feud with Hangman Page.
Strickland said, โIโm letting the peopleโs imagination run wild by not showing it. Itโs almost like Blair Witch Project was so ahead of his time, because you didnโt see the ghosts you didnโt see, they didnโt show you anything. [Same with] JAWS, like the idea of just going to the water is now a fear of and causes a lot of anxiety to a lot of people go into the beach now. And thereโs nothing out there. But the idea that something could be out there is your imagination. Youโre letting the viewer really take hold, like Paranormal Activity. The first couple was like, the idea of something bumping and swaying you have no control of your life. Itโs not the house. Itโs the person, itโs haunted. You canโt control that. And then the boyfriend trying to like, like, Iโm going to handle this because Iโm the man of the house. Iโm going to like, protect you. No, you canโt we have to do these things. Iโm like, No, but Iโm going to take care of the problem. Youโre helpless. You canโt do anything. Thatโs a real fear of men. And like and just like thatโs just like taking a paranormal viewing of it but real fears like not having control of your own life in your own situations.โ
