Takashi Sugiura Announced As Next Challenger For GHC Heavyweight Champion Jake Lee

Pro Wrestling NOAH announced today that the current GHC Heavyweight Champion Jake Lee will be defending his title against Takashi Sugiura on June 17th  at Green Journey 2023 in Nagoya at the Nagoya Congress Center Event Hall.

On May 14th at Star Navigation 2023, Jake Lee called out Takashi Sugiura to face him in a one on one match thus prompting NOAH to make the match official.

Jake Lee will have a tough challenge ahead of him as Takashi Sugiura is a former 4 time GHC Heavyweight Champion as well as a former 2 time GHC National Champion, 2 time GHC Jr Heavyweight Champion, 2 time GHC Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Champion and 9 time GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.

This will be Jake Lee’s third defense of the GHC Heavyweight Championship as he most recently defeated Naomichi Marufuji at Majestic 2023 back on May 4th.

Also announced for Green Journey 2023 in Nagoya will be a GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Title match as the champions Timothy Thatcher and Saxon Huxley will make their first defense of the titles against Masa Kitamiya and Yoshiki Inamura.

  • Main Event GHC Heavyweight Championship: Jake Lee (c) vs. Takashi Sugiura
  • GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Saxon Huxley and Timothy Thatcher (c) vs. Masa Kitamiya and Yoshiki Inamura
  • GHC Jr Heavyweight Championship: HAYATA (c) vs. Dante Leon
