WWE veteran The Miz spoke with The Wrestling Classic about various topics, including the advice he would give his younger self.
Miz said, “Just keep what you’re doing. Keep doing what you’re doing. I think, I wouldn’t need to give — I would give my advice to everyone else. And I keep telling my daughters this: do the stuff that nobody else wants to do. Grind, work. Because that’s where you really learn how to hone your craft. All the stuff you do that sucks, that’s what really makes a difference in learning about your craft.”
On never saying no to opportunities:
“Doing these interviews, the reason I’m the first one here and the last one to leave is because I learn something new each and every time. I get a new question that literally, I might not get somewhere else. And it helps me think of ideas and ways. Some of my catchphrases have come from literally doing interviews. Some of my storylines I’ll literally be like, ‘Oh man!’ My brain starts going with these. So these are the things that a lot of talent — which I don’t know why — are like, ‘Nah, I’ll pass on that. No, I’ll pass on that.’ I’m not a passer. I’m like, ‘I’ll take every opportunity because you never know what is going to happen.’ I’ll give you another example. I did an ESPN show one time, and they asked me to come back. They were like, ‘Hey, whenever you want to come back, you can come back.” I was like, ‘I’ll come back tomorrow.’ ‘Okay!’ So, I just kept coming back. And then from there, MTV saw that I was doing hosting stuff and they’re like, ‘Hey, do you want to host an aftershow?’ And I go, ‘Yeah, sure.’ So, I did the aftershow. After I did that, they’re like, ‘Hey, do you want to host the — Champs vs. Stars, a new Challenge spin-off. Do you want to do that?’ ‘Yeah, sure. No problem.’ So all of a sudden, this little thing that was a nothing turned into now, I’m hosting American Gladiators on Prime. Literally hosting a bunch of different shows because of opportunities that everyone else wouldn’t have taken, I took. I took the time to do it. So to anyone out there, take the opportunities that nobody else wants to take.”
