The Velveteen Dream Reveals New Look and Campaigns for His Return to WWE

Former WWE Superstar The Velveteen Dream, known as Patrick Clark, recently debuted a new look and is currently campaigning to be brought back to the company.

This week, Dream made his return to Instagram and published his first post there since January 3, 2021. He shared a number of photos with a cryptic message that were taken during a recent photo shoot featuring his new look.

“Eye No There Is A Heaven. Eye No There Is A Hell. Listen 2 Me People [eye emoji]’ve Got A Story 2 Tell,” he wrote.

Dream is also using a hashtag in an effort to generate buzz for a possible return to WWE. It is worth noting that fans in his comments are using the hashtag, and they agree that he should be given another chance.

In his Instagram bio, Dream describes himself as an actor. As part of his profile, he included, “DON’T DREAM IT BE IT #BringBackVelveteenDream”

During his time with WWE, Dream was involved in multiple controversies and was accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior on multiple occasions. In April of 2020, Dream was accused of sending inappropriate images to minors via social media, an allegation that he denied. In June of 2020, during the Speaking Out movement that was taking place on social media, he was also accused of sending an inappropriate photo to a minor girl, as well as of being a groomer by having inappropriate communication with minor boys. WWE conducted an investigation into the allegations and stated that they found no evidence of wrongdoing in their findings.

Dream’s return to wrestling had been announced for September 11, 2021 for the SWF promotion in New Jersey, but the promoter pulled him from the event due to backlash within hours of making the announcement. Dream discussed earlier this year how “bullshi**t allegations” cost him his job with WWE. He also commented on how he may have upset some people when he was called to RAW shortly before he was released from his time there.

It was reported that WWE actually released Dream in May 2021 after a top talent went to company officials and alerted them about an incident Dream was involved in. In his first comments after that May release, he addressed the allegations and his time with WWE. He concluded his statement by announcing that The Dream was officially over, while Patrick Clark will live to fight another day.

Back in March, Dream mentioned on his Instagram Stories that he still has aspirations of having a career with WWE or NXT, writing, “Despite trashy and unsavory allegations against me that I have beat! I’d still like to have a career with n the E. @wwenxt I was never guilty and I got a hell of a lot of talent. I’m only 26. LFG IM READY TO GO THE SHOW WHAT IT SHOULD BE”

In 2015, Dream competed in the sixth season of WWE Tough Enough. In October of that year, he signed a developmental contract with WWE. Dream made his NXT in-ring debut in February of the following year. He had not competed for several months prior to his release on May 20, 2021, and his most recent match, which took place on the December 23, 2020 episode of NXT and lost to Adam Cole. He left the company having previously held the title of NXT North American Champion on one occasion.

Now that Triple H is in charge of the show as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations & Head of Creative, it is unknown whether WWE will bring back Dream in addition to returning wrestlers like Karrion Kross, Dakota Kai, Johnny Gargano, Dexter Lumis, Hit Row, — and possibly Jonah.
