UFC Star Looks for a Celebrity Challenge

As the world of boxing digests the recent exhibition between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather, it is fair to say that the ‘sweet science’ has stolen back some limelight from its caged based combat cousin.

However, the UFC circus is no slouch when it comes to generating press headlines and with Amanda Nunes currently running roughshod over not one but two weight classes, she may have to look elsewhere for her next pray.

A location which if the rumours are true, could be Hollywood and although the fight game is known for the bizarre at times, they perhaps do not get any stranger than Nunes calling out the former wife of Kanye West.

Yes, you heard that right, Kim Kardashian has been caught in the crossfires of Brazil’s MMA queen and although the thought of these two going to war is somewhat ludicrous, there is no doubt of its potential box office appeal.

Let’s be honest, when it comes to any form of fight contest, it is the element of freak show which acts as an invaluable promotional tool and although nothing is set in stone yet, it has certainly got people talking.

In fairness the comments from the 33-year-old Brazilian were not the usual barbed offering that you may expect from Nunes and although the overall intention was a joke, there was still enough for Dana White to work with it.

Because once social media had become ablaze at the prospect of this celebrity super fight, the UFC President, had this to say:

“Imagine if Kim Kardashian wanted to fight Amanda Nunes. How big do you think that fight would be? It’d be huge! There’s always going to be a market for that kind of stuff, there’s always going to be people that are willing to put down 50 bucks for that.”

While not only would a large pay-per-view audience be generated for such a spectacle, but there would also be a considerable amount of interest from those who would be looking to place a wager on the outcome.

To the point where the use of a round robin calculator would not even be necessary, as any odds for this fight would see the current UFC Bantamweight and Featherweight Champion priced as the overwhelming favourite.

Even if the glamorous Kardashian were to be teamed up with the best fight trainers in the world, not even a punchers chance could be afforded to her and therefore if the smart money were to go anywhere, it would not be placed in the direction of the 40-year-old.

Ultimately, this whole scenario is nothing more than wild conjecture and if this element of gossip highlights one thing in particular, it is the simple fact that the fearsome champion is running out of genuine challengers.

After adding the Featherweight Championship to her already captured Bantamweight crown, it has been a simply been a case of double dominance for the Bahia born fighter and with a current 12-fight UFC winning streak under her belt, there is a case of just who could be next?

Names such as Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Shayna Bazler and Valentina Shevchenko (twice) have all been crushed by the now Florida based fighter and for all those mentioned who have fallen short, there are many more who have suffered the same fate.

With an overall MMA record of 21-4, it does at least show an element of vulnerability throughout her career. However, those blemishes came about in her early years and if anything, such defeats have now set her in good stead.

While were it not for a defeat to Cat Zingano at UFC 178, Nunes would be in possession of a perfect 15-fight winning streak and with her rare victorious foe now working under the Bellator banner, that is not a wrong she can right anytime soon.

Then again, the defeat to Zingano is surely nothing more than a distant memory these days and now the focus is on, not only cementing a legacy within the world of MMA but also transcending the sport itself.

Something that would certainly come around if the unthinkable were to happen and that of course, is Kim Kardashian agreeing to step into the octagon, to face a woman who has made fellow fighting counterparts look incredibly ordinary.

Whether this idea gains any traction or not, we will simply have to wait and see. Although if it does suggest anything, it is that Dana White is going to have to find a whole slew of female competitors to keep his two-weight champion busy.

While no matter how many or who is lined up, you get the feeling that once they enter the environment of caged warfare, the end result will be the same and that quite simply
