We like all kinds of bouts here at PWMania and when we have some downtime from all the great wrestling nights, we sometimes like to check out what is going on in the MMA world.
When it comes to the MMA, you can’t get much better than the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Founded almost 30 years ago, it is the place for mixed martial arts. There are some great match ups every single week. But here are some of the best events coming up in the next few months – guaranteed to be included in the UFC best bets list.
UFC Fight Nights
UFC rounds off spring with some heavy hitting action with a pair of Fight Nights at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. After Holm vs. Vieira headlining at the end of May, there’s Volkov vs. Rozenstruik in the first week of June.
Both nights promise some excellent mixed martial arts action. But they are only the warm-up sessions for the next major UFC event, this time taking place in Singapore.
UFC 275, Singapore
UFC spreads its wings again on June 11th, as the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore hosts UFC 275. Originally planned to be part of the UFC 274 card, a Light Heavyweight Championship bout between champion Glover Teixeira and challenger Jiri Prochazka is the headline fight.
Teixeira has not lost a fight since 2018 and took the Light Heavyweight championship in his last fight in 2021, beating Jan Blachowicz by submission. Beating challenger Prochazka will be a tough task though. The Czech fighter has only ever lost three fights in a 32-bout career. He has won his last 12 fights – a streak that goes all the way back to New Year’s Eve 2015.
There are a whole host of top fights on the UFC 275 card. But the other one of note is surely the Women’s Flyweight Championship meeting of Valentina Shevchenko and Tailia Santos. Shevchenko will be hoping to defend her title for the seventh time.
UFC 276, Las Vegas
UFC returns to the US for the July edition, as the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada takes center stage again. Top of the bill is expected to be the Middleweight Championship fight between Israel Adesanya and challenger Jared Cannonier.
Adesanya is currently the number three ranked fighter pound-for-pound and is defending his title for the fifth time. He has also fought in the light heavyweight division during his time as the Middleweight champion. That defeat to Jan Blachowicz remains the Nigerian-born New Zealander’s only loss in a 23-fight career.
Cannonier has a more varied professional record but did win the performance of the night award last time out at UFC 271. He will be regarded as an underdog for this fight but is now the number two fighter in this division and will be training to pull off a shock win.
The other title fight at this event will be the featherweight bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. This will be the third edition of a trilogy of fights between these two, with Volkanovski victorious on both previous occasions.
Future UFC Events
UFC 275 and 276 are sure to keep MMA fans happy but there will be some very intriguing events coming up soon after. Most notable is UFC Fight Night which is scheduled to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England in July.
UK UFC fans are sure to be entertained by a packed fight card. British fighter Tom Aspinall will certainly have the crowd on his side as takes on Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight bout that is expected to be the main draw.
