Update On Kenny Omega Following Being Diagnosed With Diverticulitis

After receiving a diverticulitis diagnosis, fans have been wondering if Kenny Omega will have surgery, and it appears that a decision has been made.

He last appeared on the December 13 episode of AEW Dynamite. If the top star had not been diagnosed at the time, he could have died from a blood infection, which had a 50 percent chance of occurring.

Omega was paired with Chris Jericho on AEW television at the time of the diagnosis, and they were preparing for a match against Ricky Starks and Big Bill at the Worlds End pay-per-view in late December.

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while no decision has been made, “it looks more likely than not that Kenny Omega will be getting surgery on his intestines. He’s had his ups and downs but has largely been dealing with a good amount of pain for months now.”

Omega stated that surgery is increasingly likely after two doctors advised him that it was the best option.

Meltzer added, “It’s not 100 percent that he will have surgery, but it’s looking more likely, particularly if he wants to get into condition to resume his career that he will probably have to get rid of the perforated sections of his intestine and colon.”

Because of the ongoing storyline on television, Omega will feud with Kazuchika Okada when he returns after being replaced in The Elite.
