The American Gladiators reboot is officially in motion, and its eclectic cast is turning heads across the wrestling world.
The new iteration of the iconic competition show will feature a surprising mix of talent from various wrestling promotions. Confirmed for the cast are OVW’s J-Rod and Jessie Godderz, former WWE star Eric Bugenhagen (aka Rick Boogs), as well as AEW’s Wardlow and Kamille, both of whom have been absent from AEW programming in recent months.
Adding to the buzz is the announcement that WWE Superstar The Miz will serve as the host of the show — a move that reportedly caught several cast members off guard, especially those affiliated with rival promotions.
According to Fightful Select, there is “no backstage tension” surrounding the mixed-roster cast. WWE sources indicated they were unaware of any issues and believe the project will stay strictly professional. The Miz’s hosting role is said to be based on his mainstream appeal and popularity, rather than a formal WWE-Amazon Prime partnership.
AEW has reportedly given its blessing for Wardlow and Kamille’s involvement, with no objections raised over their participation in the Amazon Prime series.
With The Miz anchoring the show and a diverse cast of competitors, the American Gladiators reboot is shaping up to be a crossover spectacle for wrestling and reality TV fans alike.
