As PWMania.com previously reported, Dwayne Johnson became the owner of the “The Rock” trademark and was appointed to the board of directors of TKO, the parent company of the WWE and UFC, in January of 2024.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com pointed out the following in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter about Rock and Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s power struggle storyline leading up to WWE Wrestlemania 40:

“At the Mania press conference on 2/8 in Las Vegas, Levesque talked about guys going into business for themselves, with the idea Rock was going against the planned script. Later they filmed a segment which didn’t air on television, but was all over social media, where Levesque and Rock went nose-to-nose and actually challenged each other for a match at Mania, although it was they would love to each other before a giant crowd at a WrestleMania without the idea it was this specific one.”

Mike Johnson from PWInsider.com promptly shoot down the rumors circulating about Levesque and Rock possibly facing off:

“There is absolutely zero truth to the idea that was even film, much less that it’s going to happen. I’m not sure where that started but it seemed as if the alleged verbiage was actually from a faceoff the two had nearly a decade ago for a tease of a bout that never actually happened. There’s not a lot that I would say can never happen in WWE, but Paul Levesque returning for a main event level match after his heart issues – that one I absolutely do not see, especially if people are assuming it based on such a silly report.”
