WCCW World ClassCast co-host Lance Petersen recently shared the tragic news on his Twitter (X) account about the passing of wrestling superfan Rick Achberger, who was widely known as “Sign Guy” for his regular presence at various pro wrestling events, especially WWE events, over the years. He passed away on Sunday, September 27th.
Petersen wrote, “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of WWE Sign Guy Rick Achberger, today Sunday 9/27/26. He was an absolute great guy and loved talking with fans at the shows. He tackled some health problems a couple of years ago, but last month began to go downhill rapidly. Rest in peace.”
Achberger was a familiar face among WWE fans, frequently spotted in the front row of events wearing his signature blue shirt and red cap. According to Fightful.com, he attended between 40 and 50 events each year, with his most recent appearance at the May 1st episode of WWE SmackDown. In addition to WWE, he also regularly attended shows for other promotions, including AEW and TNA.
