WWE NXT Review – January 30, 2024

Kicking off this week’s NXT with a recap of last week’s NXT.

Semi Final Match Of The 2024 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
Latino World Order (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde) vs. Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes

Joaquin Wilde & Carmelo Hayes lock up before they take turns locking one another in submission holds before Hayes connects with a dropkick and tags in Trick Williams.

Williams delivers a dropkick of his own but Del Toro tags in and delivers a double back elbow with Wilde. He then delivers a springboard moonsault but Williams responds with a pair of bodyslams.

Cruz Del Toro trips Williams but Williams lands a right hand and tags in Hayes.

Hayes fires off chops and stomps on Del Toro in the corner but Del Toro whips him into the opposite corner.

Hayes hits a back elbow but is sent crashing out of the ring then Wilde tags in and goes flying off the top before Del Toro takes down Williams as we go to a break.

After the break Hayes looks to tag in Williams but Del Toro prevents him from doing so.

Hayes breaks free and tags in Williams as Del Toro does the same with Wilde.

Williams delivers a bodyslam to Wilde and a stomp to his midsection then hits a double uranage to Wilde & Del Toro and pins both of them but they kick out and Hayes tags in.

Williams helps Hayes fly, but Wilde drapes Hayes from the top turnbuckle and tags in Del Toro. Del Toro connects with a kick, and ascends to the top as Wilde does the same.

They hit a double dropkick to Hayes & Wilde pins him but Williams breaks the fall.

Hayes & Del Toro then exchange open palm strikes before Hayes connects with a kick on Del Toro’s head. Del Toro ascends to the top rope and hits a dropkick then tags in Wilde.

Hayes hits a codebreaker to Del Toro and catches Wilde with one mid air after he’s ascends to the top and looks to fly.

Williams tags in and Hayes clotheslines Del Toro out of the ring then Williams hits a jumping knee to Wilde for the win.

Winners: Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes (12:33) (They will face Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin in the Finals)

After the match North American Champion Oba Femi attacks LWO but Dragon Lee runs down to the ring and fires off right hands on Femi. LWO but Femi fights them off and tosses Wilde on top of Del Toro. Lee ascends to the top rope and flies but Femi catches him with a chop in mid air.

We then head backstage and see Ava explain to Ridge Holland why he can’t take on Gallus at once. Lexis King walks in with a gift basket and says he has a meeting with Ava to discuss his future in 2024 which prompts Ava to make a match between them official.

Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria confronted Tatum Paxley for bombarding her text messages. Paxley promised to take down Roxanne Perez to make sure she did not defend her Women’s Title at Vengeance Day.

Roxanne Perez vs. Tatum Paxley

After the break Roxanne Perez has Tatum Paxley locked in a submission hold before Paxley escapes and delivers a forearm and Perez returns the favor.

Paxley lands a 2nd one but Perez fires off strikes on her.

Paxley connects with a dropkick and an enzuigiri then hits a 2nd dropkick to Perez on the outside through the middle rope and dumps her back inside the ring.

Paxley then becomes distracted with Lyra Valkyria allowing Perez to fly and take her down with a tope suicida. They get back in the ring and Paxley gets Perez up on her shoulders.

She looks to plant her but Perez counters into an arm drag and follows it up with Pop Rox for the win.

Winner: Roxanne Perez

After the match Paxley looks to sneak up on Perez but Perez sees her coming and fires off right hands. Valkyria slides into the ring and pulls Perez off Paxley before they stare one another down.

We then head backstage and see Arianna Grace give Wren Sinclair some advice. Fallon Henley walks up behind Grace and catches her making fun of her and Henley challenges Grace to a match.

Elektra Lopez vs. Lola Vice

Elektra Lopez wastes no time as she fires off right hands on Lola Vice before Vice does the same to her before they go tumbling out of the ring and Vice lands a kick right under Lopez’s jaw.

Lopez sends Vice colliding with the ring post then gets her back in the ring.

She charges at Vice in the corner but Vice moves out of the way and fires off a series of kicks then follows it up with a hip attack and a kick to her spine.

Lopez responds by rocking Vice with a chop and hitting her with a powerbomb then they exchange forearm strikes but Vice delivers a kick to Lopez’s midsection.

Lopez hits Vice with a pair of double handed chops and plants her with a spinning uranage but Vice locks in a submission hold on her.

Lopez escapes and Vice hits a spinning back heel kick for the win.

Winner: Lola Vice

We then head over to a video of Dijak & Joe Gacy meeting face 2 face. Dijak asks Gacy what he wants and Gacy tells Dijak he can’t get rid of him no matter what before they end up brawling with one another.

Ridge Holland vs. Lexis King

Match starts off with a lock up before Ridge Holland hits a clothesline to Lexis King as we go to a break.

After the break King fires off elbows on Holland and delivers a stomp to his tricep.

He sends him crashing into the top turnbuckle then hits a clothesline in the corner and connects with a kick to his spine.

He follows it up with a swinging neckbreaker and a clothesline to the back of his neck.

Holland responds with a pair of suplexes and a clothesline in the corner then plants King.

Holland delivers a headbutt to King and a clothesline to the back of his neck then Gallus runs down to the ring and Holland takes out Gallus.

King catches Holland with a kick when he gets back into the ring and hits The Coronation for the win.

Winner: Lexis King

After the match Wolfgang & Mark Coffey continue to beat down Holland before Joe Coffey joins them with chairs in hand and Gallus sets Holland’s ankle up on a chair. Joe then hits the chair with a 2nd chair.

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams spoke backstage after the match. Hayes told Williams to look out for Ilja Dragunov because of what he did to Baron Corbin. Williams said that Vengeance Day would be a movie but said that he will finally face Dragunov tonight ahead of his match on Vengeance Day.

Andre Chase reflects on being the leader of Chase U and says he didn’t know how much of an impact it would have on the NXT Universe. He says the school became one of the biggest success stories of NXT and says the memories they made will last forever. He says he only has himself to blame for Chase U closing, but he expresses his gratitude for the support of the NXT Universe.

Hudson says he was a very different man before Chase U but the day he was crowned MVP of the school was the greatest of his life. He says he feels it’s important for everyone to experience the school in a positive light and throws it to a tribute video made by him and some friends from the school.

Chase says this situation has been a teachable moment and says it’s goodbye for now. Before he can continue Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail make their way down to the ring. Jayne says if you want something said then ask a man but if you want to get something done then ask a woman. Chase says now isn’t the time as they’re saying goodbyes and Hail questions if they really are. Jayne says she came into Chase U a little bit toxic and wasn’t sure if she’d fit in but she saw the bond everyone at Chase U had with one another and found herself truly inspired. She says she knew she had to do something when she saw Chase U was in trouble. She says Chase U will not be saying goodbye tonight thanks to the Chase U Women’s Calendar.

Several of the female students join Jayne at ringside and Jayne announces the calendar will be going on sale this Sunday at Vengeance Day.

The Family spoke outside of a building where they promised to show why the streets of NXT belong to The D’Angelo Family.

Brooks Jensen spoke with Fallon Henley before Wren Sinclair met her and told her that her match was next. Henley told Jensen she would speak with him later.

Andre Chase continued to thank Jacy Jayne backstage before Lexis King interrupted & after Riley Osbourne to King to back off Dijak & Joe Gacy appeared from out of nowhere brawling.

Fallon Henley vs. Arianna Grace

Arianna Grace demands Fallon Henley kiss her hand as Henley opts to grab her hand instead and wear it down with a submission hold.

Henley then hits a back elbow and a pair of arm drags then follows it up with a shoulder tackle and trips Grace then hits a kick to the side of her jaw and a right hand as we go to a break.

After the break Grace locks in a crossface on Henley. Henley escapes and levels Grace with a shoulder pounce then hits a Sling Blade and a right hand to her on the outside.

She dumps Grace back in the ring then Jakara Jackson appears out of nowhere and hops up on the apron capturing the referee’s attention.

Lash Legend hits a Bicycle Kick to Henley and dumps her in the ring and Grace pins her for the win.

Winner: Arianna Grace

OTM spoke in a house where they promised to show those Albondigas who ran NXT.

Dijak & Joe Gacy brawled on the roof before Dijak pushed Gacy off the roof into the dumpster.

Bron Breakker was on the phone before Baron Corbin interrupted him and put him over for his performance in the Royal Rumble Match. Breakker continued to make fun of Corbin for keep saying The Wolf Dogs before they agreed to win the NXT Tag Team Titles. The Wolf Dogs are coming for the gold.

Heritage Cup Title Match
Noam Dar (c) vs. Von Wagner

Round 1

Von Wagner delivers a shoulder tackle to Noam Dar before Dar fires off a few kicks on Wagner but Wagner runs over him with a shoulder tackle and connects with an arm drag.

Dar slaps Wagner and Wagner responds with a spinebuster and several right hands.

Wagner tosses Dar across the ring and gets him up on his shoulders.

He sends him crashing into the mat face first and fires off more right hands as the round comes to an end.

Round 2

Wagner sends Dar crashing out of the ring then clotheslines Oro Mensah out of the ring and walks into Nova Roller from Dar then pins him to earn a point as we go to a break.

Dar 1-0

Round 3

After the break Wagner hits a delayed vertical suplex to Dar then Dar rolls out of the ring but Wagner gets him back in.

Mensah distracts the referee allowing Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson to grab onto his leg as he looks to follow him in.

Fallon Henley & Wren Sinclair reemerge and all 4 women brawl to the back then Dar cinches in an Ankle Lock but Wagner doesn’t tap as the round comes to an end.

Round 4

Wagner connects with a right hand to Dar then goes for a pin but Dar kicks out.

Dar fires off a couple of elbows on the side of Wagner’s head but Wagner catches him with a bodyslam.

Dar low bridges Wagner out of the ring and delivers a boot then follows it up with a dropkick that sends his leg into the ring steps.

They get back in the ring and Wagner hits a boot to Dar.

He follows it up with a jumping knee but Dar sends him crashing into the ring post shoulder first then pins Wagner for the win.

Winner & Still Heritage Cup Champion: Noam Dar (Round 4) (2-0) (STILL CHAMPION!!!!)

After the match Dar & Mensah taunt Stone’s kids in the crowd as Wagner attacks them from behind and clears the announce table then looks to send Dar crashing through it. Mensah looks to attack Wagner but Wagner sees him coming and powerbombs him through the announce table.

We then head over to a video of Ava chewing out Dijak for what he did to Joe Gacy earlier tonight next to the dumpster he was sent into. Dijak demands to face Gacy in a No Disqualification match at Vengeance Day this Sunday and Gacy emerges from the dumpster to accept his challenge.

Trick Williams says he has a lot on his mind with Vengeance Day only 5 days away. He invites NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to join him in the ring and Dragunov makes his way down.

Dragunov says he loves the look on Williams’ face and says he’s ready to fight for his life on Sunday against the hottest WWE Superstar. He extends his hand out to Williams but Williams pushes it away and says he thinks Dragunov is smarter than he looks. He says it’s funny that Dragunov calls himself a Czar because a Czar will do anything to stay on top. Dragunov asks Williams what he’s trying to get at and tells him that he thinks he has a voice in his head giving him bad advice. He tells Williams not to let Carmelo Hayes color his judgments and says his and Williams’ relationship is built on respect.

Williams points out that Dragunov had their NXT Title match pushed back to Vengeance Day and Dragunov says he destroyed his body throughout 2023 for NXT. He says he pushed NXT, his opponents and Williams himself to the next level. He says he’s willing to do this all over again and says Williams would not face him at less than 100%. Williams admits that while that’s true he still had it pushed back. Dragunov says he didn’t force Williams to accept the match and says he plays mind games but with Baron Corbin. He says Williams should be more concerned about Hayes and says Hayes now needs him for glory when Williams needs to be focusing on their match. Williams says Dragunov doesn’t need to worry about where his focus is and says he & Hayes will win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic before he dethrones Dragunov.

Dragunov says their rivalry has made Williams more of the man that he is than Hayes has and says he will break Williams piece by piece and destroy everything he’s built should he show any weakness on Sunday. Williams says no one can destroy what he’s built and says Williams isn’t the same man he was when they first faced off. He says he plans to fill the world in on his destiny this Sunday and Dragunov says he knows Williams will bring everything he has. He says Williams will make history but not the history he wants. Williams tells him that the best man will win and extends his hand out to Dragunov.

Dragunov shakes it and they hug then Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin blindside Williams and beat him down but Hayes appears to even the odds. Officials run down to keep the men separated as all 4 men yell at each other. Williams then takes note of Dragunov still in the ring and begins staring him down. Hayes sees this and seems to be concerned to close out this week’s NXT.
