WWE SmackDown Review – June 23, 2023

Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with a video of what occurred within The Bloodline last week.

Jey Uso looks to say that The Bloodline is now in Lafayette but Jimmy Uso stops him and he corrects himself then says The Usos are in Lafayette.

Jimmy says he’s feeling good and asks how Jey is feeling. Jey says they’re about to fight their family. He says family is supposed to have each other’s back from day one to the end. Jimmy says Jey made the perfect choice last week, and Jey tells Jimmy he loves him. He says that he & Jimmy still love Roman Reigns and says they followed his orders for 3 years. He says Reigns messed up when he disrespected himself & Jimmy & Jimmy say respect is huge for them. He says The Bloodline became their faction when they fell in line but once Reigns showed them that they weren’t worth anything, they left him in the dust.

Jey says Paul Heyman is the biggest snake of them and Jimmy questions how he can take orders. Jey says himself and Jimmy are heading to London and calls themselves the best tag team in the business. He welcomes Reigns & Solo Sikoa to The Uso Penitentiary before himself & Jimmy throw their ones to the sky.

LA Knight vs. Rey Mysterio

LA Knight sends Rey Mysterio face first into the top turnbuckle before he whips him into the opposite corner but Mysterio fires back with a dropkick. Knight lands a flying shoulder tackle from the apron but Mysterio sends him into the ropes and hits 619 then executes a baseball dropkick that sends Knight tumbling out of the ring as we go to a break.

After the break Knight delivers a neckbreaker and goes for a pin but Mysterio kicks out and Knight sets up for a powerbomb but Mysterio fights his way out and delivers a hurricanrana.

He ascends to the top rope and lands a senton then delivers a springboard crossbody but Knight fires back with an elbow drop before Mysterio looks for a springboard moonsault but Knight catches him but Mysterio reverses the momentum and lands a DDT.

He then hits a step up enziguri and looks for 619 but Knight catches his legs and gets him up on his shoulders but Mysterio escapes before Knight lands BFT for the win.

Winner: LA Knight

After the match Knight looks to unmask Mysterio but Santos Escobar runs down and makes the save.

We head backstage and see Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman walking around as Ridge Holland passes and tells them to watch it. Sikoa loses his temper and delivers a Samoan Spike to Holland before walking away.

After the break Sheamus appears at ringside and calls out Solo Sikoa & he tells Sikoa he saw what he did to Holland and tells him if he wants a fight he’s got it.

Women’s Tag Team Titles Unification Match
Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler (Women’s Tag Team) vs. Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn (NXT Women’s Tag Team)

Shayna Baszler delivers a kick to Alba Fyre’s midsection then she follows it up with another one to her thigh before Isla Dawn & Ronda Rousey tag in. Rousey delivers a kick to Dawn’s midsection then delivers a series of hip tosses and fires off right hands. Dawn delivers a kick to Rousey’s head then tags in Fyre.

Fyre wears Rousey down then tags Dawn back in & Dawn does the same then quickly tags out to Fyre then Dawn lands a running Meteora before Fyre delivers a kick to her thigh before Rousey hits a reverse hurricanrana as we go to a break.

After the break Fyre rains down right hands on Rousey then Rousey cinches in an Ankle Lock but Fyre escapes by landing a step up enziguri. Baszler tags in and knocks Dawn off the apron then delivers a running knee to Fyre. Dawn tags in and delivers a pair of clotheslines then delivers a kick across her chest and follows it up with a suplex.

She ascends to the top and delivers a Meteora but Rousey delivers a kick while the referee is distracted & this allows Baszler to lock in the Kirifuda Clutch but Fyre breaks the hold with a Swanton Bomb off the top rope then she levels Rousey then tags in Dawn.

Fyre & Dawn set up for the Gory Bomb/Flatliner combo but Baszler locks in a Kirifuda Clutch on Fyre as Rousey locks in an armbar on Dawn forcing Dawn & Fyre to tap out.

Winners By Submission & Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Champions: Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler (NEW CHAMPIONS!!!!!!)

After the match Rodriguez looks to leave ringside but Rousey calls her into the ring and asks what she was doing tonight. Rodriguez demands a rematch for the Women’s Tag Team Titles we never lost and Baszler asks who she’s referring to. Liv Morgan’s music then hits and she makes her way down to the ring in her return to WWE. Rodriguez & Morgan get in the ring and stare down Rousey & Baszler.

Grayson Waller welcomes fans to The Grayson Waller Effect and introduces Pretty Deadly.

Pretty Deadly’s music hits and they make they way down to the ring.

Wilson says The Grayson Waller Effect is much better than The KO Show and the 3 men joke. Waller then says Pretty Deadly has had a lot of success in the 2 months they’ve spent on the main roster and Wilson says Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens have earned their respect after main eventing WrestleMania 39 Night 1. Prince says himself & Wilson don’t feel as though they’ve earned that same level of respect from them. He says they can carry on bickering while himself & Wilson are on the same page.

Waller says he isn’t surprised and Prince says the Gauntlet match was grueling last week. Pretty Deadly then rag on all the other teams in the match and say they beat them all.

Street Profits then make their way down to the ring for their upcoming match with Pretty Deadly.

Tag Team Match
Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)

Kit Wilson & Montez Ford lock up to get this match started then they go back & forth with submission holds before Angelo Dawkins tags in and delivers a shoulder tackle. Wilson lands a forearm then tags in Elton Prince.

Pretty Deadly deliver a double shoulder tackle and Prince delivers a boot to his face. Dawkins delivers a right hand to Prince’s face then tags Ford back in.

Ford lands a drop before Street Profits send Pretty Deadly out of the ring and go flying over the top to take them out as we go to a break.

After the break Ford ascends to the top rope but Wilson meets him up there and executes a headbutt on Ford, then gets him up on his shoulders. Ford reverses the momentum and delivers a crossbody then tags in Dawkins.

Prince tags in and Dawkins catches him with a clothesline then follows it up with a dropkick and a corkscrew spinning elbow then delivers a splash in the corner before hitting an enziguri and a double underhook twisting neckbreaker.

Ford tags in and Dawkins shoulder pounces Prince over to Ford as he catches him with a back suplex then delivers a uranage and tags Dawkins back in.

Ford ascends to the top as Dawkins gets Prince up in an electric chair position but Wilson knocks Ford off the top rope before Prince rolls up Dawkins with his feet on the ropes as Wilson holds them in place for the win.

Winners: Pretty Deadly

Charlotte Flair vs. Lacey Evans

Match starts off with a lock up then Charlotte Flair lands a shoulder tackle then steps over Lacey Evans and delivers a kick to her face then she follows it up with a series of chops before Evans sends her crashing into the top turnbuckle face first and ascends to the middle rope.

She looks for a moonsault, but Flair rolls out of the way and delivers a backbreaker before she sends Evans into the top turnbuckle face first then mocks Evans and hits a suplex then hits Andrade El Idolo’s pose then hits a big boot and locks in the Figure 8 for the win.

Winner By Submission: Charlotte Flair

After the match Women’s Champion Asuka blindsides Flair while she still has the Figure 8 cinched in as she rains down right hands and celebrates before heading to the back.

Solo Sikoa vs. Sheamus

Solo Sikoa & Sheamus rain down right hands on one another. Sheamus lands an uppercut in the corner before the action spills to the outside and Sheamus lands a clothesline. He tosses Sikoa back in the ring and rains down right hands but Sikoa whips him into the corner.

Sheamus winds up on the middle rope and delivers a clothesline then delivers a back elbow and a boot to his midsection then he sets up for 10 Beats Of The Bodhran but Sikoa escapes after landing several back elbows.

They land on the apron and Sheamus gets Sikoa up on his shoulders but Sikoa escapes and sends Sheamus crashing into the ring post spine first then delivers a Samoan Drop on the outside as we go to a break.

After the break Sheamus delivers a clothesline out of the corner. Sikoa fires back with a series of right hands but Sheamus responds with several of his own and follows it up with a clothesline then he delivers a splash in the corner then lands a body slam and delivers 10 Beats Of The Bodhran. He sets up for the Brogue Kick but Sikoa catches him with a superkick.

Sheamus gets Sikoa up on his shoulders and lands White Noise then goes for a pin but Sikoa kicks out and Sheamus sets up for the Celtic Cross but Sikoa escapes and delivers a Samoan Spike that sends Sheamus tumbling to the outside.

He sends Sheamus on top of the announce table with a uranage then sits him up against the barricade and delivers a hip attack to Sheamus through the barricade then the referee calls for the bell after determining Sheamus cannot continue.

Winner By Referee Stoppage: Solo Sikoa

After the match officials run down to help Sikoa but Sikoa levels them. The Usos’ music hits and they make their way down to the ring. The Usos deliver a series of superkicks to Sikoa in the center of the ring then they then land Uso Splash then a another superkick to close out this week’s Smackdown.
