AEW Offers Support To Victim In Domestic Violence Case Against BJ Whitmer, Victim Speaks Out, More

As PWMania.com previously stated, veteran pro wrestler BJ Whitmer was fired from his position as an AEW Coach earlier this month after being arrested on domestic violence charges. Whitmer was arrested on June 4 in Boone County, Kentucky, and charged with strangulation in the first degree, a Class C felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison. Whitmer was released from jail on $25,000 bail on June 12.

According to FOX 19 in Cincinnati, Whitmer was also charged with burglary. According to the report from the Boone County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Department, he was charged with 2nd degree burglary, which is also a Class C felony in Kentucky, punishable by 5-10 years in prison.

On the condition of anonymity, the alleged victim in the case told FOX 19 that she dated Whitmer but that he assaulted her after their breakup.

“I was literally fighting for my life,” she explained. “I came into my house, and he was standing at the top of my steps waiting for me.”

Whitmer, according to the woman, assaulted her, strangled her, and held her down in her home.

“And he squeezed tighter and said, ‘I’m going to fucking kill you,'” the woman recalled. Do you hear what I’m saying? ‘I’m going to murder you!’ And I knew he was choking me once we stopped moving.”

The woman claimed she was able to flee.

The woman explained, “And he squeezed tighter and said, ‘I’m going to fucking kill you. Do you hear me? I’m going to kill you!’ And once we got to the point of where we stopped moving, and then he continued choking me, I absolutely knew.”

The woman stated that she has installed security cameras in her home and that deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department have been randomly patrolling her property. She also stated that she does not feel safe.

The allegations are supported by a report from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in Kentucky. It states that Whitmer entered his former girlfriend’s home without permission at 6:14 p.m. that evening, “requesting that she delete messages from her phone that were” sent by Whitmer. When she refused, “Mr. Whitmer became irate” and “approached her, grabbed her by the throat and threw her down on the couch where he began strangling her.” She “advised that Mr. Whitmer impeded her ability to breathe to the point where she thought she was going to lose consciousness.”

Prior to the incident, the woman stated that he had been receiving texts from Whitmer all day, including one in which he stated that he would “see her soon.” She then saw him enter her house as she was returning from the neighborhood pool.

When deputies arrived, Whitmer had already left the house. According to the report, when deputies arrived at her home, the woman had bruising on her neck and visible red marks. She was treated and evaluated by Walton Fire/EMS, and she stated that her “throat was very sore,” but she refused to be hospitalized or taken to the Emergency Room.

The woman informed deputies that Whitmer had most likely gone to a relative’s house, where he was discovered and detained by Alexandria, KY Police until he could be questioned. Whitmer refused to speak with police at the time.

According to a new report from PWInsider, AEW officials reached out to the woman after Whitmer’s arrest to offer whatever personal support they could.

As of this writing, Whitmer had not publicly commented on the charges, nor had he responded to requests for comment. For the case against him to proceed, he would need to be indicted by a grand jury, which is very likely.
