WWE President Nick Khan recently confirmed a long-standing rumor about his past—he once appeared on Wheel of Fortune. During an appearance on the “What’s Your Story? With Stephanie McMahon” podcast, Khan revealed that his $16,500 game show winnings were instrumental in launching his legal career.

Khan explained that during his early years, he worked full-time while attending both undergrad and law school. But when it came time to prepare for the bar exam, he faced a financial roadblock.

“I knew that to study for the bar and pass the bar, I couldn’t work full-time, study, and pass. I had to take two months off just to study,” he said. “I had to pass it the first time. I didn’t have the financial means to take it the second time, or to wait on being a lawyer like a lot of other folks.”

With few options, Khan took a chance and submitted a postcard application to Wheel of Fortune in the late 1990s or early 2000s. After attending a mass audition at the Sony lot in Los Angeles, he was selected for the show.

“I won $16,500. And when your bank account goes from zero to 16 five, I’m like, ‘I’m never gonna have to work again. I’m rich. Now this is over. Drinks are on me,’” Khan joked.

The money was used to pay for a Bar Review course. He passed the bar exam on his first attempt—and the rest, as Khan put it, “is history.”

The story adds another layer to Khan’s rise to the top of the wrestling industry and highlights the hustle and determination that continues to define his leadership style today.
