Backstage News On AEW’s Plans To Sign More Free Agents

This is a pivotal year for AEW as they must finalize a television deal before their present media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery expires at the end of the year. The promotion has resulted in the signing of some notable stars, including Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone, and Kazuchika Okada.

With big-name talent acquisitions and the promotion’s first-ever firing spree, some fans expected them to cut back on bringing in new talent. That is not the case.

Fightful Select reported, “AEW is looking to sign potential free agents this Summer.” It was also revealed that Finn Balor’s name was on the list of talent they were considering before signing the new WWE contract.

Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, also stated that AEW will not stop with free agent signings.

“I know that AEW is looking at people whose contracts are up. I mean, it’s not like, whether they get anyone that, I don’t know, but they’re definitely looking. You know, sometimes you think that they made this big, big investment with [Kazuchika] Okada, [Will] Ospreay and Mercedes ]Mone]. And maybe they’re not looking for other people. But, they still are,” Meltzer stated.
