As PWMania.com previously reported, on September 1st, MLW announced that Tessa Blanchard would join the company and make her debut at Fightland 2026. However, CMLL, Blanchard’s home promotion, later clarified that she was only scheduled to appear for this one event with MLW, and that there was no formal agreement between Blanchard, MLW, and CMLL beyond this singular booking. Subsequently, CMLL announced that Blanchard would be appearing on a show scheduled for the same day as the Fightland taping, ultimately preventing her MLW debut.
According to Fightful Select, CMLL seemed caught off guard by these developments, though this should not have been unexpected. Blanchard had previously given an interview with TMZ discussing her signing with MLW and her objectives within the company. TMZ sources indicated that CMLL representatives were present during the interview call with Blanchard.
It was reported earlier this week that CMLL had only approved the one date for Blanchard’s appearance with MLW. The reasons behind the cancellation of the Fightland debut remain unclear. Over the weekend, Blanchard took to Twitter (X) to address the situation indirectly, writing, “Some things are just out of our hands… pero mi México, los quiero un chingo. 🇲🇽❤️🔥 Y este nunca falla. 💎”
