During Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, the company announced that the Intercontinental Championship will be on the line in two weeks. Reigning Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable is set to defend his title against Dragon Lee on the September 14th show.
This matchup was established after a segment in which Gable called Lee to the ring and expressed his desire to put the championship up for grabs against the luchador. Gable mentioned that Adam Pearce had granted him the opportunity to choose his opponent for the title defense on the September 14th episode of RAW, which will take place in Mexico City.
This prompted Ethan Page to come out and criticize Gable for giving shots to luchadors who, in his opinion, lacked Gable’s talent. Page demanded a title shot, and Gable then suggested a match between the two, with a chance to compete for the Intercontinental Title on the line. Lee ultimately defeated Page with his finishing move, Operation Dragon.
This title match is the first bout confirmed for the September 14th episode of RAW, which will be held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, and will air on Netflix.
