WWE appears to be teasing a heel turn for a fan-favorite RAW Superstar.
During the Monday Night RAW main event, Sami Zayn faced Shinsuke Nakamura. Michael Cole stated that Sami Zayn needed a win to turn things around because he had been unable to win matches recently. Cole made it clear that Nakamura had “handed Zayn another loss” as a result of Drew McIntyre’s assist.
Zayn also lost to Randy Orton on Friday Night SmackDown in a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber match, which takes place in less than two weeks in Perth, Australia. Following that match, the camera focused on Zayn, who appeared upset about the loss.
Jackie Redmond was shown interviewing Zayn in an empty building. Nakamura appeared on the screen and claimed Zayn was attempting to swindle people in order to gain sympathy and remain in the spotlight.
McIntyre and Nakamura launched a post-match attack on Zayn, and Cody Rhodes ran out to save his friend. Under Vince McMahon’s creative regime, these teases typically resulted in a turn, but it’s unclear whether Triple H intends that here. Whatever is going on with Zayn, it appears that something is about to change in his character as he continues to lose matches. He hasn’t won a match in 2024.
