WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque appeared on the Flagrant podcast to discuss various topics. One notable point he mentioned was that Vince McMahon was not a fan of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s iconic Austin 3:16 promo at King of the Ring 1996. Vince expressed skepticism, believing that the related t-shirt would never sell.

Triple H said, “At the time, I believe, Vince was pissed about [the promo] and hated it. Vince was like, ‘Make those shirts. I guarantee none of them sell.’”

On McMahon changing his view:

“They did it, and they sold, and Vince was like, ‘This is great.’ To this day, Austin 3:16 shirts are some of our biggest selling merch.”

On how WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is one of the few who offered him guidance early in his career:

“Steve was one of the few guys like, when I started in WCW… he was one of the guys who… would actually talk to me. I was young and just trying to get started, and Steve was one of the few who’d come over and say, ‘Hey dude, I noticed you were doing this — maybe try that instead,’ or whatever. He was super cool like that.”
