The much-hyped in-ring confrontation between Goldberg and World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER on the June 16 episode of WWE Raw reportedly went shorter than originally planned, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The segment was designed to officially set up their World Heavyweight Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. However, key details—including the title stipulation and the fact that the match is Goldberg’s retirement bout, were never mentioned on air. WWE later confirmed the title status only via social media, leading to fan confusion after Raw ended.
Some observers noted that Goldberg “wasn’t moving well” during the segment and looked smaller than in previous appearances. Backstage sources added that he even appeared shorter than during his last run, fueling speculation that nagging injuries from training may be affecting him ahead of his final match.
Despite the segment being trimmed, the match remains one of the most anticipated showdowns on the July 12 card, with many expecting fireworks in what could be the Hall of Famer’s last ride.
