On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy gave his stamp of approval to the idea of R-Truth winning a world championship in WWE. The veteran star was reacting to recent comments made by JBL, who suggested that WWE should capitalize on R-Truthโ€™s current popularity surge.

Hardy, known for embracing bold creative choices throughout his career, said heโ€™s โ€œnot opposed to radical ideasโ€ and believes that Truthโ€™s massive fan support could justify a short-term title runโ€”even against someone like John Cena, who faces Truth on tonightโ€™s SmackDown for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

โ€œI mean, Iโ€™m not opposed to radical ideas, you know, Iโ€™m the man who did Broken Matt Hardyโ€ฆ Truth really, really just saw such an outpouring, such a groundswell of WWE fan base support, right? And he is probably the most over heโ€™s been in his career. Everything he touches is white hot right now, so I am not opposed to it,โ€ Hardy said.

While acknowledging that WWE likely has long-term plans for the championship picture, Hardy still sees room for a feel-good R-Truth moment.

โ€œYou never know, this thing could be snuck in there and it could happen. But when itโ€™s all said and done, I think at the end of the day, how much the crowd is emotionally invested in a character is the most important barometer of the levels that someone reaches.โ€

Whether Truth walks out of SmackDown with the gold or not, fan supportโ€”and now industry backingโ€”continues to build for the beloved veteran.
