WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis faced GUNTHER in a singles match at SummerSlam Night One this past weekend. This marked Aldis’s first match for the company in nearly three years; unfortunately, he came up short.
After the event, Aldis submitted his resignation letter to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. However, Triple H tore up the letter and reinstated Aldis as the SmackDown General Manager.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE always intended for Aldis to compete in just one match at SummerSlam. The report also mentioned that another match might take place in 2027, but there are no serious plans in consideration as of now.
Despite his loss, Aldis is expected to continue in his role as the SmackDown General Manager, and the match received a positive reaction from the live crowd.
